Hey Guys, I am new in here and this is my first post. Hopefully this is the right place to ask my question. I am building a new system and I need help on picking up a Power Supply. The reason I haven't bought one is because I am waiting for Intel's X38 Chipset Release. I was think maybe there might be some Voltage difference. But I guess I was wrong. From what I have read around, Whatever Power Supply I buy SHOULD Work with Intel's Upcoming Bearlake-X (X38) Platform. If this is true can you guys please recommend me a good power supply.

So far in my Blue Print, this is the Config I have so Far:

CPU - Dual or Quad Core
Motherboard - Intel or Asus
DDR2 or DDR3 Memory Chip
Nvidia 8800 Graphic Card
DVD-Writer (SATA)
CD-Writer/DVD-ROM (SATA)
WD Raptor HD (SATA)
Plus 3+ HD (SATA)

This is what I have so far. I might Add More stuff later. So if you guys can recommend me a good PS, It would really help me out.

Thank You for all your help,

P.S. Fusion

Quad Core plus Non-SLI 8800 can be covered by a 600W power supply easily.

Recommendations:
Seasonic S12+ 650W (High efficiency non-modular)
Seasonic 600W or 700W Modulars
Corsair 620W (Made by seasonic)
Enermax Infinti 750W
Silverstone Zeus 750W
PC Power and Cooling Silencer 610W or 750W

My personal choice would be the S12+ Seasonic since its probably the highest efficiency supply you will find and seasonic makes quality.

Second choice would be the Corsair HX 620W supply, which is a modular seasonic built power supply.

Also note newegg tends to not be the best place to buy power supplies. The corsair is a good 30-40 dollars more expensive than other retailers have it

It depends on what you want to spend & wether or not you think you might want to do SLI at some point ... if the anwser is no, you can save some money & get a 500 watt model, but if yes it would better to go for 700 watts so you have a substantial saftey margin.

This Enhance 500 watt is a great PSU & an unbeatable deal:

Enhance ENP-5150GH 500W ATX - OEM @ $69 with free shipping *(This weekend only)

This Corsair 520 watt really isn't a whole lot better then the Enhance above aside from having modular cables & a longer warranty:

CORSAIR CMPSU-520HX ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 520W @ $129 with free shipping *(Before $10 MIR)

This Enhance 600 watt model is a solid choice, although not as good a deal as the 500 thats on sale:

Enhance ENS-0560G-G 600W ATX - OEM @ $124 + shipping

If you think you'll want to do 8800GTX SLI or if you just want a substantial power-surplus in your system, grab this Seasonic 700 watt model ... this is what I have in my main system & you won't do much better for any price:

SeaSonic M12 SS-700HM ATX12V / EPS12V 700W @ $210 + $9 shipping

Seasonic (I wouldn't trust the M-series, but that's just me), or Enhance. Quality, quiet, and something-else-because-lists-should-be-odd-numbered. With a quad core and 8800 or so, it might actually not be overkill to get a 500w+ PSU. New chipsets coming soon won't need any new PSUs (though who knows what the future may hold going to next year). I read OCZ's are nice, too.

Edit: wow, I should have just refreshed the page and saved myself some typing!

I'd go with Corsair/Seasonic, anything over 520watt for dualcore, single card, and over 620watt+ for quadcore and Sli.

Aye it will, but always nice to have extra in reserve, and also means less stress for the PSU.

Hey Guys, I just wanted ask if you guys can recommend Watts for my system too. I know you guys can't give me a exact watts, but just in your opinion. I know alot of you guys already have given me the watts, but I also wanted to tell you that I also have other add-on stuff for the case. I am using the CM Stacker 830 Case and if you know about that case you know it has 7 Fans. I plan to use all of them (All 120mm). So if you guys can help me in the watts department, that would really narrow my PS Shopping.

I am leaning more and more towards Enermax Power Supply. 720W or There 8XX Watts Power Supply.

THX for all the help guys.

I've only linked to this twice today, why not a third time? PSU calculator FTW!

BTW - it has been accurate for me on 2 builds and it was referred by something on SPCR. Might have been forums, might have been an article.

Which Enermax Power Supply would you guys recommend for my Needs?

Enermax Galaxy DXX EGX850EWL (850 watts)

Enermax Galaxy EGA850EWL (850 watts)

Enermax Infiniti 720W (Nvidia SLi Certified, Which I don't tend to do) (720 watts)

I would go with the Infiniti 720W over the Galaxys simply becuase it is 80plus certified. Not to mention Quad Core + Single 8800GTX + a pile o fans and hard drives will still be easily covered by 720W.
