my spec: amd 64 3000+, msi neo platium 250gb, 516mb ddr.
I have constant reboot, by playing games, and sometime surfing the net. my power supply is 400w. after checking my power supply it read: 5v---25A, 12V---15A, 3.3v-20A, is this okay?

Just because it says those specs does not make them true. Also power supplies can wear out and put out less power over time.

What is the name on it?

high wattage != a good PSU

id rather have a 300 antec than that 400 POS that you are running.

Before jumping on the PSU, download and run memtest86
http://www.memtest86.com/

Let it run for several passes. This should not stress the CPU or video card and therefore should not stress the power supply.

This can verify whether your memory is having any problems, because, frankly, I've had the same issues caused by bad RAM. The best thing to do right now is try to narrow down the problem rather than go blindly spending money on something that may not be a problem. However if the power supply is in SERIOUS trouble, as in starting to fail, it may still cause issues even in memtest.

On the other hand I have had problems like this that were attributed to a power supply failing as well. I didn't know it was failing at the time, it had been in use for several years just fine, but the machine was rebooting and one day the PS let out a high pitched shriek that slowly trailed off in volume as something let loose. No more power supply.

Also, what is your video card?

Your PSU specs are very low for a 400W supply. My 300W AOpen supply that came with my case has:
3.3V = 28A
5V = 30A
12V = 15A

You can't max them all out at once though, which is why it's rated @ 300. I'm guessing your 400W supply is much closer to a "normal" 250W. Even if you add the max wattage of each line on your supply, you still only get around 370, so I'm not sure where they are getting 400.

If you got a quality 400W supply (or even a quality 300 or 350) you'd probably be fine. I think the Seasonic Super Tornado is currently a very good option. It's available @ newegg in 300, 350, and 400 sizes.

Good luck!

It's typical for a generic supply to be rated that way. The other wattage comes from the capability of the -12v and -5v lines which are minimal usage, but still need to be accounted for.

I have an Athlon 64 2800+ running at 1.9GHz (100MHz overclock), running on the same mobo with 1.5 GB DDR. I also have a Geforce 6800oc, which requires a lot of power.

I'm rock solid with a 350W Antec PSU. I'd have to agree, that you should consider a name brand PSU, assuming your mem checks out.

ya know 400w is 400w, and with what he is running should be fine....now I know this girl who has had nothing but bad luck with the power in her house, spikes and lows doing the same thing to her systems, so maybe just maybe check out the power to that room, it could be like her and had the electrical done by a friggin moron. Simple solution is get a quality surge protecter/BU PS to prevent those spikes and pick up the lows.

just an option if the PSU turns out to be ok.
