Power supply issue?

Not completely sure if this is a PSU thing or not, but figured maybe I'd ask here and see if anyone had any ideas.

What happens is I shut off my system, but then I can't start up again until the power supply has had like half an hour or an hour to cool off. But the weird thing is, as long as I try to turn the system back on shortly after I shut it off, I don't have this problem. For example I've never had any problem restarting the computer, or I can shut it down and then turn it back on as long as I do it shortly (like 10 seconds or something) after turning the computer off.

The PSU does seem to run a bit warm (this is a low noise system, so I replaced the fan a while ago with a very low RPM model). So maybe it's something heat related. But if that's the issue, it's weird to me that I have no problems when the system is actually running, only issue is trying to turn it on after it's been off for more than a few minutes. While the system is running, temperature at the exhaust grill is about 44*C. A bit high, but not worryingly so IMO. At load the exhaust temp doesn't go up much, only a few *C.

The power supply is old (close to or over four years I think), I'm happy with it otherwise and this issue isn't serious enough for me to bother replacing it yet. Short of it completely crapping out, I don't think I'm going to replace it. Probably a long shot, but just thought maybe someone here would have some guesses as to why it's doing this. I wouldn't mind trying to troubleshoot this and fix it if possible.

This is the PSU btw

I think it's the PSU but that's just me.

I had a similar problem happen to me where the computer was on and ran fine but then when it was off, I couldn't turn it on anymore. But in the end, I did have to replace the power supply though.

Thanks for the reply, that helps a ton. I was thinking PSU as well, but the motherboard was my next suspect. If you were having a similar issue and replacing the PSU fixed it, though, that makes me much more confident that it's the PSU.

Now if only I could find a solution other than replacing the darn thing. :hmm:

The issue I discussed here may be not directly match with previous discussion but I think it's related on this. If I plug always AC power on my Laptop, where battery is full charged is there any problem. Does it effect on battery life?
