power supply making noise

so i have a enermax liberty elt620awt and it seems to be making constant but fairly faint clicking noises lately. i air sprayed it to clean out any dust inside but it's still doing it. it's 2.5 years old now.

so basically, is the fan dying? if so how long before it will stop completely?

i leave my pc on 24/7 so i am afraid "something bad" will happen when i am away from home. yet, i am cheap and don't want to spend money!

should i replace it immediately?

If you're comfortable opening a PSU you could open it up to spray more of the insides. Maybe something got stuck inside or near the fan bearings.

If it is in deed the fan you could purchase another similar fan or even something faster/slower whatever and replace it.

Chances are something got stuck near there but the general vibration of the case may be causing a click too. Sometimes after 2.5 years of use screws get loose etc.

i would strongly advise against opening the PSU. A novice to that arena can get themselves seriously hurt or killed by poking around in there.

Billy's got a point, I guess because I've opened a few PSU's to clean them out after some googling for safe de-dusting I'm biased to opening it up and replacing the fan.

Just get a new one
