I built 2 identical systems (Builds in my signature). I used Axio cases with 480W power supplies. The cases were great, but the power supplies were crap. The 1st died within 3 months and I replaced it with a $50 500W. It runs great now. I was tight on cash last week when the 2nd died, so I used a $12 400W Hercules. The Hercules boots up the system, and I can browse the internet and do minor work with it, but it will not game or even run a very graphic screensaver without kicking out. When it kicks out, the power source has to be severed for a few seconds in order to reboot. I ran ASUS's Asusprobe program and recorded the voltage, fan speed, and temperature as it died. The voltage only runs 11.39 volts to a max of 11.7 volts. I checked the specs of the Hercules power supply, and that actually meets their 11.4-11.7v range. When the system kicks out, the voltage is below the 11.4v mark, and the CPU temp jumps from 36C to 56C. I believe that I need more voltage and a more stable power supply (my other 4 systems all run 12.1 - 12.2 volts steady). I can even transfer files to and from this system without problems and have left it running for over 48 hours without problems, but as soon as heavy video applications start it kicks out. I thought it might be the video card, but the AGP video only runs 1.5v. Anyone ever had any problems like this?
