Power supply scenario???

Anybody have some advice on this power supply scenario?

I have a dual AMD Tyan Thunder K7 mobo with:
-1 GB Ram (4-256MB sticks)
-3 SCSI 15K HD's
-3 Western Digital HD's
-1 SCSI CD-ROM
-1 SCSI CD-RW
-floppy
-460w NMB power supply

In addition, I have a case modded by cool cases and a digital doc hooked up to 8 fans, three of which are 120mm.

Recently I have had weird problems with crashes and most damaging is that during the POST the mobo will not recognize the PS2 keyboard keeping me out of the BIOS! I just recieved another K7 mobo and the same issues sprouted. So, I'm very suspicious about my NMB 460w power supply even though the digital doc shows fairly stable voltage.

Would it be feasible to hook up one power supply to my motherboard and boot drive, and put another power supply outside of the case to feed the hard drives, CD-ROM's and all the fans? It's the only solution I can think of without building a totally separate machine to hold the other HD's.... Is this even possible without connecting the PS to a mobo/switch. Can a remote switch be used in place?

Any thoughts would be great!

That system sounds pretty nice. Though through my experiences I have never heard of NMB. Maybe you should try a brand name PSU like Antec or Enermax.

Well, unfortunately, this particular Tyan board only has a handfull of PS options. It takes special connectors that "normal" PS's don't have. I bought the mobo the first month it was released and NMB was the only supplier that Tyan recommended. Now there are several more options and I have a "zippy" PS being shipped out right now. Even with this I'm still unsure about overloading it. Six HD's, 2 CD-roms, an Elsa Gloria III video card and 3 other PCI's might be too much for any PS for all I know....

Anyway, if somebody has experience with hooking up two power supply's (I guess kind of like a redundant setup) with one PS powering the mobo and boot drive and another by remote switch for all the other HD's, etc. I would like to hear your experience.

Thanks!

I know Antec now has a power supply that is compatible with the Thunder K7 boards. Here it is. That may be an option if need to replace the K7's motherboard power supply again.
