I have a Antec 900 case for my new build and really want the Corsair modular power supply but it has the large fan on the bottom and the Antec case hase its power supply at the bottom of the case, meaning the fan would be flush with the bottom of the case.If i turn the PS up side down will this shorten the life of the PS or create any other problems?

Actually, the PSU will be sitting with the fan facing upwards, I have a seasonic PSU, same as Corsair.....not really sure whats worse up or down, with fan facing up, you gotta be careful not to drop any screws.
Either way though, that fan sux air in so, can't see any negative effects.

In your case, upside down would create the same airflow as a right side up in the top of the case. I can't see a problem.

On this subject:
I have a Thermaltake Armor Extreme case where the PSU is situated at the top of case and to be put in must be on its side. Right next to the PSU is a rear exhaust fan. Would it be more prudent to have the PSU fan facing the case (minimizing airflow into it), so it's not creating some weird counter vortex (I'm just hypothesizing), making the exhaust fan fight with it for air? Or should I just have it and the exhaust fan near each other, will it really have any affect?

DasMoof unless there is some clearance for the psu if its facing the case you should keep them facing each other, as while thats not perfect if its too close the case and cant get enough airflow if will probably overheat (depending on the load you have it at) and that can be bad (random shutdowns, restarts to fried parts).

The nine hundred is made to hold any PSU either way, so in your case you want the fan to point up as you'd want at least an inch of clearance below the PSU if you mounted it with the fan down - I don't think there is even that much clearance. Quite a few PSUs have gone back to fan(s) on the front and/or rear - for those it shouldn't matter at all, so I'd mount it with the main circuit board on the bottom as that's the way the man intended it to be...
