I'm in even though the odds are the same as getting hit by lightning while getting bit by a shark in Iowa.

I'm in for insurance. So if by some miracle one of the numbers in the pool does win, I won't be banging my head against my laptop saying "WHY! WHY! WHY DIDNT I JOIN!! OMG"

There IS a guaranteed way to win. Buy all 295 million possible combinations!. Sound crazy? way back when the FL lotto was just a year old it got to $110 mil, some guy called the Lotto headquarters and wanted to buy all 14.6 million possible number combinations. They said no, there is no way to logistically support that, if you want to hire people and have them go out and do it we can't legally stop you though. Turns out there were 6 winners that week, he would have lost $$ on the deal.

some group did try that with only 7 million combinations. They "only bought" 5 million of the combinations but evidently did win. It took them 3 days and they did it bulk. Imagine having to do this one slip at a time. No way it is possible.

Interesting, they filled out the slips by hand evidently it was an investment "group" that targeted the Virgina lotto because there are -only- 7,059,052 possible combinations. They took the 20 year payout vs the one time bulk as that would have chopped off a hefty chunk to go that route. It also said they netted an extra $900,000 in the lower-tiered prizes. Still risky IMO, if 1-2 other people have winners your plan goes to the crapper.

How much of an annuity did they win?

http://kneb.com/regional-news/1-million-powerball-prize-won-by-32-lincoln-coworkers/

A group of 32 workers at a Sysco food distributor in Lincoln will split a $1 million Powerball prize.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports the workers have been pooling their money to buy lottery tickets for years.

Chrissa Bonow bought the winning ticket that matched all five white numbers along with 31 other tickets Wednesday.

She says the group always hoped it would win big. Every member of the group will receive about $27,000 after taxes.

No one won Wednesday’s $500 million jackpot, so lottery officials estimate that Saturday’s jackpot will grow to $700 million.

Bonow says her group already bought their tickets for Saturday.

Can you imagine if you were on vacation, out sick or didn't play?

although 27k isn't "f it all" money, i always make it a point to join the work pool becuase i dont want to be the only guy showing up one day.

Yeah my minimum "f it all" would be net $3 million or higher, preferably $5 million+

Agreed, the "fuck it all" amount is equal or greater than the amount I can reasonably expect to make in the rest of my lifetime.

If you buy all the numbers you might have to share the big jackpot with lots of other winners and win less than you spent.

It would have to be enough to payoff debts, buy a nice house, new car or two, take a vacation, invest the rest and hopefully/ideally live off the interest.

I would buy an Arby's Roast Beef Sandwich, add onions and some Arby's sauce..

Then chase it down with a bottle of Woodford Reserve Bourbon

mixed with ice cold Coca-Cola.

I hope that you get a big royalty check for that post

I was always more of an Arby's Beef and Cheddar man myself. Good eats.

Why would you ruin a perfectly good Woodford Reserve by mixing it with soda?

With how large the pool is at work, that's about what we would each get were we to win. $6 million means, I put away half for long term returns and use the other half short term.
