What are the odds of the powerball reaching 1 quadrillion? Because in that case it actually should be cancelled and the money spread out evenly to end US poverty.

I just realized... if a rich person, like a billionaire, really wanted to be an effing asshole, he would go buy all the combinations. Even if he has to split the winnings 2 or 3 ways, he might still break even. Otherwise, he's a billionaire, it'd be solid entertainment to piss the masses off -- or the poverty people he has to share the winnings with.

Not after the lump sum payment and taxes.

I don't think that's physically possible for 1 person and team to do based on how fast tickets can print.

You could split it up to 5 ways and make money.

If everybody is a millionaire, everybody will be poor. I don't want to be a Kenyan millionaire.

depends.

If it goes to Vivi then the split...then very likely no problem

If it is split at once, at the beginning, which seems possible and is better taxwise?, then that could be a problem....or someone agree to share with the 18 year old then just write a cheque...though that is another tax issue, if I am not mistaken.

isnt it tantamount to buying it for a minor and thus, illegal?

I've heard that in the past someone tried, but the people in charge of the lottery wouldn't allow it. Meaning that if you want to buy every possible combination you have to physically go do it in person.

The way it works, wouldn't that also jack up the pot? IF someone spends 460mill on buying tickets, doesn't that in turn raise it 80% of what he just spent on tickets or something too?

I just read an article from CNN and it was talking about taxes on the huge jackpot lottery.

Winner: Puerto Rico - no federal tax or state tax on lottery winning, ie, the winner very much will receive the whole jackpot. Next winner is the one that lives in the six states that have no state income tax or in state that does not tax on lottery winning such as CA.

Loser: NY, especially if the winner lives in NYC. The winner will have to pay out federal tax, then state tax, then city tax on the lottery winning.

1) Have to figure out ALL of the possible combinations and make sure all of those combinations are covered, no exception. Print them out and organize ALL of them.
2) Have to find and hire trustworthy group of people.
3) Have to get ALL of the cash those hired folks to buy the tickets because cash only for lottery (at least around here).
4) Have to get ALL of those hired folks to different locations to buy those tickets because 1 or 2 location will NOT be able to print all of them.

A freaking nightmare of logistic.

Plus if you have multiple winners (very high probability with so many people are playing, even from Canada and tourists), your plan will be screw.
