1.3 billion jackpots. But the chance is about one in 292,201,338. Meaning, you need 292,201,338 tickets to have any realistic chances which means.... you need to spend 584,402,676 dollars. woot. But again, 1.3 billion is a vast sum. Even after paying up the taxes, there should be enough left over to make up the differences.

For over a billion dollars there isn't anywhere that he could hide from ATOT so I wouldn't be too concerned. A smaller winning and he could probably slip under the radar but if he posts the numbers online beforehand even that would be hard.

And then what are you going to do, beat him up? I'm not saying he's the type to run and hide (I've done his pools before and he always scans the tickets for us)... I'm just saying there is literally no legally binding way to get the money from an online pool from what I've read. We could be as mad as we wanted and know exactly where his gigantic mansion is, and do nothing about it but cry.

Nevermind the fact that the way it's being done means that any winnings given out to the pool would most likely fall under gift tax... so not only would we take a tax hit, and the cash hit, the gift giver is required to pay taxes on any gifts given out past a certain amount which this most certainly falls under.

It's just a lot more complicated than getting some money from your buddy. The amount of money changing hands is not something that's done easily.

we could all appear at the lotto office and have them split the $ before taxes, like if an office pool won.

btw Vivi- does MN have a rule that says you don't have to reveal the person who won?

I think if it's lotto, you can have the lotto agency divvy it out to a group of individuals, so you are only taxed once. There was a article I read where multiple people from different states did that and only paid tax once, they had a lawyer do it for them. That was a year or two ago I read it, so I can't find the link though.

make sure to fill that form out!

Someone, somewhere said yes. But if a group wins, I am hoping I can just say the group name and keep me out of it. I think it's crazy they let you publicly list that you won that amount of money. IF it happens, i'll take that hit if need be, not too worried, chances are abysmally low of winning

Ya I think in a previous pool we mentioned meeting up in Minnesota for the greatest ATOT hookers and blow party ever was the plan in the event of a large jackpot.

Wouldn't that be fun, everyone meet in MN, grab our cash. Rent a private jet or 3, and fly to some country and hang out/party.

If the AT lotto pool wins, and there are insane legal issues after that amount to a few $k each, at most....the entertainment and drama would be worth the $10 (well, you know, assuming there isn't a team of lawyers brought into the mix fighting for everyone. )

Still, going in for $10 to not win is fine with me.

No idea why they do that. You never hear happy stories about the people who won, only about the ones who go broke or come to some untimely demise.

Given the option, I'd claim it through my lawyer and buy a vast estate in New Zealand or Scotland. Maybe both.

Yeah, the lottery is pretty much you donating a few dollars for non tangible fun, if we win, then we can have some real tangible fun.

I think the primary incentive is proof of winners.

The various Lottos need the credibility that this thing is only 99.5% of a scam, so they are desperate for the faces of the 0.5% and the big fat targets, er I mean cheques to post on billboards.
