Powercolor 5700 XT Red Devil review

PowerColor has launched their full line up for the 5700 Cards, including the Red Devil, and the slightly-lower end Red Dragon.

Since the Red Devil is their flagship, here's a link to the TechPowerup analysis:

They gave it a glowing review. Factory-overclocked out of the box, fantastic cooling, and "the quietest AMD Radeon card I have ever tested" (their words). It does use considerably more power to make the factory overclock possible, but it sounds like Powercolor provides an alternative "quiet" BIOS that makes the card run with a bit less power.

I'm thinking this is the best AIB 5700 XT so far. I love everything about it, other than the shroud. Still waiting on Sapphire's and ASrock's custom models.

Sapphire's pulse is out, or at least the reviews are, but I haven't seen the Nitro yet. But yes, from what it looks like the red devil is the best so far, a very impressive card.

Isn't the extra power use utterly out of proportion compared to the benefit from the overclock?

The base XT is already pushed a bit past its sweet spot.

Yeah, I should have clarified that I meant the higher-end Nitro and Toxic variants, which are yet to be released. I'm interested to see how those stack up against the Red Devil.

This is still very tempting though, assuming it doesn't sell out immediately.

Not too shabby for an extra 50 bucks... seems like Powercolor does make a decent stock of them.
