Maybe its all they had on hand? Dont know kind of an uneven benchmarks in higher resolutions then but then 512 didnt make much a of difference over 256 anyway.

Also Interesting to see how well it overclocked.

Anyone seen any hardware review sites with benchies comparing it to the Geforce 6600 GT? I think that is what most of us want to know, is it a better value.

Of course its a quote from an ATI rep but:

Andrzej Bania (ATI): At the price points we are targetting, X800 GT blows 6600GT out of the water and even beats the much more expensive 6800 in many cases.

Andrzej Bania (ATI): End users do not need to worry about 'How can ATI make such a powerful card available' they just need to sit back and enjoy the performance.

Give me a freaking break. This must be their corporate cheerleader making these statements.

I don't think many people were thinking this with all the paper launches ATI did this past year.

I would think the faster DDR3 memory would make a significant difference in performance, no? Not to mention it has 256MB of it.

i just like that way that ati and nvidia play the name game. nvidia names their low-end cards xt (e.g., 5900xt), while ati names their cream of the crop xt. on the other hand, nvidia uses gt for high-end cards, but then ati "coincidentally" chooses gt for their low-end stuff.

nice!

LOL
Damn if it doesnt throw me off every time too.

I would like to see this card compared to 6600GT Overclocked and 6800 Vanilla but I think the ATI cheerleader might be right it should beat a 6600GT and for $30.00 more to have 256megs of ram is not a bad deal.

Unless you have AGP. ATI consistently leaves agp users in the dust and my next purchase for that reason alone, will be NVidea.

This card should be much better than the 6600GT with AA and AF enable since it's has a 256bit memory bus.

Nvidia is not launching any more AGP cards as well...

Also, I think its worth wating for the R5xx series with 90nm feature size and shader model 3 support.

GT ? Does it come with leather ?

Seriously though.........

Twin DVI at affordable price not amde by xfx - thumbs up

Using budget chips with the now readily available faster memory towards the end of a product cycle ? - thumbs down.

I don't understand the appeal of this card when you can already get the vanilla X800 for about $175 (or $145 after rebate for the MSI model right now). The X800 should be the faster card with it's 12 pipes.
