Very nice performance, basically identical results as the PCIe version of the same card.

Does anyone think this is worth putting in my current system? I have a 3.4 P4 (OCed, can probably push a little more juice out of it), 1 gig of DDR400, and an ATi x800 XT (or whatever the freaking top of the line x800 is).

I would probably pickup a nice 2 gig kit of DDR to overclock the system more and sell the old ram and video card to make up for the upgrade. I really can't afford an all out new system so would this do the trick in keeping my up to date?

O, and I'd be gaming at 1650x1080 (or whatever it is) or 1280x1024 for non-widescreen supporting games. I'd just like to turn up the settings to max in some of the older stuff and have the new stuff playable!

the pro would be a nice upgrade ... my own system is a p4@3.31Ghz and went from a x850xt>x1950p ... i am going to upgrade 1 pair of 2x256 in DC to 1 pair of 2x512MB for a total of 1.5GB [still in DC] for a cheap upgrade that should hold me for another year and the Quad core/x-fire system

i'd say ~1/3rd faster with SM3.0

and perhaps you might want to hold out for the x1950p 512MB versions ... i returned my VisionTek x1950p for just that reason ... i also expect the price to drop and some O/C'd versions.

I was probably going to try to pick up the memory second hand (or just pickup another gig). As for the video card, the 512 Saphire is available in Canada from NCIX. I might wait for the Powercolor as it seems to be better but I guess it only comes in 256? Still debating weather the ~400 dollar upgrade is worth it or if saving for something totally new is a better idea.

I was going to bu BFG 7800GS from Newegg $240 with $60 MIR rebate, i asked myself:
why they did $60 price drop ??? What's wrong????
Checked news and WHOILA: ATI X1950 PRO AGP for $210 in January, that's why.
Which one will be better: Powercolor with 256mb memory or Shaphire with 512 mb memory?
Powercolors heatsink is better or Saphire's?
Saphire's heatsink locks SEXY.

To anyone sitting on the fence about this one here is my experience. I purchased the Powercolor model. The silent cooler is very nice. I did have to upgrade my powersupply to support this card so that is an extra cost you will have to consider. However if you are upgrading to a PCI-E motherboard and card you will need a new power supply as well. Anyways here is my comparison:

Original System:
AMD 64 2800+ 1.8Ghz overclocked to 2.15Ghz
Gigabyte GA-K8NS (2.x Revision) motherboard
1.5 GB of GEIL high speed ram
Dual Raptor Hard drives
EVGA 6800GT video card overclocked slightly
3dMark05 - 4300

Upgraded System - New CPU and Video Card, everything else the same
AMD 64 3200+ 2.2Ghz
Powercolor x1950 Pro AGP running at 575MHz core/690MHz memory
3dMark05 - 8200

Overclocked System
AMD 64 3200+ overclocked to 2.5Ghz
Powercolor x1950 Pro AGP running at 621MHz core/796Mhz memory
3dMark05 - 9400

My original system had lots of issues playing most new games. Battlefield 2142 would stutter very badly. With the new card and cpu it runs flawlessly. Checking the framerates it runs in the 40-70 FPS range. I can play Medieval II: Total War without a hitch where before it would die in the intro battle. I'm very happy with this upgrade. I'm seriously considering picking up another one for my second gaming machine on my LAN. Anyways I hope that helps you!
