Using Sneaky, I am handling 6-8 systems for RC5

Many have talked about using a Personal proxy to interface with their herds.

I may have the opportunity to assimilate more, however, I do not have the time to go after each system and some are not sited in the same building.

Where can I get info on this "great" tool and will it work on w Windows box?

/Edit - Mon AM
Have downloaded the pProxy package and reviewed the helpfile.
Being behind a firewall, I will need to use sneaky to feed the proxy.
(I have tried to get out using the RC5 client to no avail).
I will not get a chance to activate the pProxy until this evening.

A couple of concerns/questions have come up after reviewing the helpfile a couple of times. (I may have missed the answers though)

1) Will the buff-in.rc5 files from sneaky be abled to be put on the pProxy with no problems. Conversely, will the outputs from the pProxy (hopefully buff-out.rc5) be able to be sneaky(ed) to the outside world.
I have not fired up the pProxy yet, therefore I may be jumping the gun.

2) What will I have to to do to the Client configuration files to utilize the pProxy. I am hoping to keep the port numbers to use at the default 1024.

3) Will my pProxy host system also be able to run RC5 client concurrently?

Do they happen to be WinNT machines, and if so, do you have admin rights. If so, man have you got it made. Something called remote cows makes setting up on NT machines a breeze.

Download the win32 pproxy, edit the ini to your preferences and run it on a machine that has net access, and that your other machines can see.
Point the other machines to the pproxy as being their server.
Ask here if anything is unclear

All the systems are behind a firewall but can see each other.

I hope to use Sneaky to fill/flush the pProxy via my home system.

Will check this out on Mon and post the results

Thanks.

I don't think you'll need to even use sneaky, I have about 8 PCs connecting to mine, and PProxy will store blocks for you, and will adust the needed unit automatically. I set mine at 3000 and pproxy has added more.

EagleKeeper-

AFAIK, Sneaky is not compatible with pproxy buffers, perhaps Polo will pop in to confirm or refute this. However, the concept is identical. All you would need to do is load a pproxy on a machine with I-Net access (say your home system), download WU's, copy the buff.in to a floppy, and paste it to your install location at the office. Also, be sure to ask around regarding that firewall. Many folks around here have had success using various port configurations and substituting IP's for DNS. Good Luck!

Right, Sneaky can't feed a proxy. However, manually feeding a proxy, wich in turn automatically feeds the cows, is way easier than feeding the cows one by onbe with sneaky. Plus, you get your own STATS

If you cant get through the FW, do as osmo said, set up another proxy at home just to fetch and flush the files from the work proxy.
I used to do just the opposite, when I was deprived from home connection.

RaySun2Be may help you iirc, he was able to defeat his office FW after many tries.
Also, Randall had a *very* tough FW, and beat it after 1 year and a half. He's no longer here but he goes by WildCajun on Sysopt's DC forums. bphantom helped him out too.

Russ
If Ray and others can help me defeat the firewall, Can you have the new site merge stats with the existing home system?
Otherwise the RC5 100K+ units that currently have been accumulated will become split up between home and other IP as I get through the firewall. I could have at least 3 seperate IP address accessing the Cube Proxy.

LeBatt
If Russ will be able to solve the reporting stats concern, I will utilize Ray to try and bust through the proxy. Luckly, he is also geographically close by to the firewalled systems.
I will try out the pProxy at home anyhow.

It will be needed when the Dual T-Bird comes on line.

I have 5 NT systems and 4 Win9x systems. Please provide link on the remote cow configuration.

Thanks ALL

EagleKeeper,

Working a PPRoxy from behind a firewall should be a breeze, especially if the machine you have already has Internet access. You can use a PPRoxy to send/recieve blocks using any port number you want, just like you can with the clients. So if you have WWW access you could point your pproxy at proxy80.teamanandtech.com:80. I'm using a PPRoxy from behind the firewall at work and using an intermediate pproxy on the outside to forward the blocks from there. In my case I'm using port 119 but the format is still the same.

Now, I'll have to bow to the Borg gods here because I don't know what ports they have available on the cube but it should be possible to make it work.
