There's definitely enough blame to go 'round in this story.

If the allegations are true, then the hospital administration are a bunch of greedy, small-time felons!

That PR guy definitely did push it! And, while I do think he did his job in the short run, for the long run he failed. PR guys are never supposed to become the point of controversy. He handed Big Dan a ready made "he patted me!" handle to run with.

But, jeez, Big Dan! So called TV "investigative journalists" can be amongst the biggest asshole drama queens out there.

That last point kinda' ruled my reaction. :\

All the PR guy had to do is tell the news crew to go away. If they didn't, they can call the cops. As a PR guy he should have said they can give him an interview or a prepared statement. As a PR guy, he should know the game. Touching isn't supposed to be involved.

That's not the point, the point is that it's a crime. Unwanting touching is battery and it's pretty clear the reporter did not wany to be touched.

Pushy reporters may be annoying fucks, but they're also a cornerstone of an effective democracy.

And anyone that would even consider suing or filing assault charges for a touch on the shoulder is a whiny crybaby pussy and perfectly exemplifies why your country is turning to shit.

Citizens who care and are involved are the cornerstone of an effective democracy. Reporters slant everything they touch to get better ratings.

Like a comedian once said (maybe Ellen?):

I guess so. He could be arrested based on that tape and you can sue for anything. However, in most states the reporter would have to prove harm for a civil suit so I doubt he would get anything.

So at first the dude lightly taps his shoulder to get his attention and the reporter immediately barks "DO NOT TOUCH ME!! DO NOT TOUCH ME!!". Get a fucking helmet dude. A grown man can't handle a tap on the shoulder?

The continued touching after that is pretty damn odd though... But his assholish response was completely over the top. Go the fuck home and hide under your bed if you can't handle a friendly pat on the shoulder.

Whatever the accusations are, they are alleged. Going around with a camera in peoples' faces demanding the truth is not going to help with an investigation. The reporter was being in asshole in the name of journalism and the PR guy was an asshole back. Those types of confrontations are supposed to provoke a reaction in the person they are following, but instead it got thrown back at them. I say well done PR creep.

On one hand it looks like the PR Guy is deliberately touching him to be annoying, that said, I'm wondering if it was something he learned in a class somewhere. I can imagine there is some people management course or a book that teaches you to lightly tap someone on the shoulder when introducing yourself which gives you some desired effect. The "stop touching me" effect wasn't covered in the book so the guy just kept on repeating the introduction hoping to change the outcome. I may just google it.

Both were a bit douchey... but it was pretty clear the PR guy was setting a barrier to the little lady. His repeated touches, while weird, seemed to be to:

1) aggravate the guy
2) slow him down so he could get between the reporter and the administrator lady

Pretty funny to see that kind of reaction out of both guys though.

issue id that is a public place. so great call the cops on the man.

The PR guy NEVER asked him to leave and continued touching and the news guy asked him to stop touching. when someone ask you to not touch them you don't continue.

both were dicks. i could understand if the news guy decked the pr guy by the same thought i can see the hospital security dragging the news guy out.

lol reminds me of something happened when my wife was pregnant. we went to the mall to walk around to dry to get the baby to drop. we go into one store (pretty sure it was target) and walked around looking at baby stuff and video games. anyway guy in a red shirt comes up and tells us we have to leave the store. we were in for about an hour and hadn't purchased anything. ok fine no problem there are like 100 other stores to walk in.

he directed us to the store exit wich was on the other side of the mall where we parked and it was hot as heck out. so we started going to the mall store exit part. my wife was 9 months pregnant and was very slow. he pushed her a little in the back and said to hurry up.

I turned to him and asked him to not touch or push her again. well he gets upset and decides to show me he is boss and push's her again. i got in his face and told him Not to do it again or i would consider that an assault . at that time 2 older plain clothes mall police stepped in and told the guy to not touch her again i would have the right to respond.

sure i would have got one hit in..then he would have kicked my ass LOL
