I ordered a pair of work boots on Sunday for a job I'm starting the 8th in San Francisco, and even though I chose 4-7 day shipping option (free), they overnighted the boots and I received them today. Unfortunately they were too big, so I gave them a call...they're overnighting a smaller size free of charge to make sure I receive them before the holiday weekend, and they e-mailed me a pre-paid shipping label to ship the others back. I'm very impressed, just thought I'd share.

I use them exclusively now. They probably have the best customer service on the entire internet. About half the time I chose the slowest shipping method they upgrade to overnight. Once I ordered two pairs - one 3-day shipping and one standard. I got the standard one first because it was upgraded. They refund on shipping costs if you return.

I think they're the place that offer new salespeople 1000 dollars to quit in their first week. They reason that only those truly committed and love the job will refuse the money and stay. Apparently they've been doing this since the start and ramping up the value, it started at like 50 bucks.

My wife and I have ordered from there a few times, and I must say that their service is beyond "good" as we've come to expect from businesses like Newegg, it's truly exceptional. One time we realized that we had inadvertently ordered the wrong thing (our fault), zappos still sent out the right thing and even paid for the return shipping label. Excellent, really excellent.

Sounds nice but damn, those shoes are expensive. I tend to get mine on clearance with multiple coupons or something. I picked up 3 pairs of NB 7xx's for 80 a couple years ago, still going strong

I used them too, or nbwebexpress (these guys sent me $50 GC... for no apparent reason other than thanks for shopping with us). I recently gave onlineshoes.com a try too. I wonder if they are run by the same company, or if they share the same distributor and it's really just the customer service that's different. I haven't had to deal w/ them directly, but I will be sending back the 2nd return in my order because I just can't fit these Merrells right. I can't find wide in the stores around here, but it seems I may not need them, they run wider than I'm used to.

I have a messed up foot... I must have bought and returned a dozen pairs of shoes/boots with zappos. I'll keep on doing it until they refuse to send me new ones.

GOOD boots are never cheap. THESE are what I wore for most of my construction career...
For about 10 years, I wore THESE but went back to the Whites after Nick retired. (his son(s) still make boots)

I had a shoe go bad on me in Iraq and cut my foot. They let me return the pair of shoes even after having it for two weeks becuase it was just a bad pair. They sent me a new pair of shoes (different brand) and a shipping label.

I'll buy shoes from them from now on, especially because it's hard to find my size (14 or 15) in stores.

having big feet is a PITA sometimes. Mine aren't nearly as long, (10.5-11.5) but with 4E width, finding shoes to fit is almost as bad as what you go thru Bill.

I really do.

One bright, extraordinary note in all of the sad stuff of the last few weeks - in May we had ordered several pairs of shoes from Zappos for my mom. She?d lost a lot of weight, and her old shoes were all too big. She had a whole new wardrobe of clothes in pretty colors, that fit, so I wanted her to have some pretty shoes that fit, too, when I took her up to Oregon to stay where her sister is. Out of seven pairs, only two fit. Not bad considering she?d never been this thin, so I was winging it, and the return shipping is free.

The rest were here waiting to be returned. Because of various circumstances - lost label, my mom being hospitalized and me being away, the shoes were never sent back. There?s a time limit on the return of 15 days. Remember this. When you do a return to them, they pay the shipping, but you have to get the shoes to UPS yourself. Remember this, also.

When I came home this last time, I had an email from Zappos asking about the shoes, since they hadn?t received them. I was just back and not ready to deal with that, so I replied that my mom had died but that I?d send the shoes as soon as I could. They emailed back that they had arranged with UPS to pick up the shoes, so I wouldn?t have to take the time to do it myself. I was so touched. That?s going against corporate policy.

Yesterday, when I came home from town, a florist delivery man was just leaving. It was a beautiful arrangement in a basket with white lilies and roses and carnations. Big and lush and fragrant. I opened the card, and it was from Zappos. I burst into tears. I?m a sucker for kindness, and if that isn?t one of the nicest things I?ve ever had happen to me, I don?t know what is. So?

IF YOU BUY SHOES ONLINE, GET THEM FROM ZAPPOS.

With hearts like theirs, you know they?re good to do business with.
