I just got a tip from a reader that you can pre-order the AMD Phenom II X6 1090t Black Edition processor if you call Frys! I called and confirmed this news. It appears that they are coming in tomorrow and the pre-orders will ship then according to the sales agent that I spoke with. They do not have listed on the frys.com website but if you call and ask for product #6219140 you can order it for $299.99 plus shipping.

Phenom II X6 1090T: 3.2GHz / 3.6GHz / 125w
Phenom II X6 1075T: 3.0GHz / 3.5GHz / 125w
Phenom II X6 1055T: 2.8GHz / 3.3GHz / 125w, 95w
Phenom II X6 1035T: 2.6GHz / 3.1GHz / 95w
Phenom II X4 960T: 3.0 GHz/ 3.4GHz / 95w

They list the 1055t as 200$ but it's not even the cheapest x6 they are going to have.

I wonder how well the 1035t can overclock considering it's multiplier locked. 1035T and 1055T could be one hell of a good value.

Compatible with AM2+/AM3 motherboards!

Tempting but really want to hold until major architecture change like Bulldozer/SandyBridge.

I thought that the 1090T BE chip wasn't going to be released until 4Q 2010. The other lower Thuban chips were supposed to be released on 2Q 2010. (Which is when? Now?)

Damn...is this a new architecture or is it just 2 tacked on cores?

Just two more cores tacked on, with some tweaks here and there (a lot of stuff that was implemented in Istanbul, and possibly other tweaks). There's talk of a turbo-like feature for Thuban as well:

http://www.amdzone.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=137448

Overall, it should be a nice update to K10.5 that will make AMD a bit more competitive with Intel at price points below $1k.

You can see the turbo speeds in my previous post. Here they are again.

Phenom II X6 1090T: 3.2GHz / 3.6GHz / 125w
Phenom II X6 1075T: 3.0GHz / 3.5GHz / 125w
Phenom II X6 1055T: 2.8GHz / 3.3GHz / 125w, 95w
Phenom II X6 1035T: 2.6GHz / 3.1GHz / 95w
Phenom II X4 960T: 3.0 GHz/ 3.4GHz / 95w

Looks like between 400-500MHz depending on the model.

sweeeeet! so the 1035 could be ~$180 ish? Are they all unlocked?
Dark4ng3l already mentioned the 1035T was multiplier locked, so the answer to your question is negative assuming he is right. I have no info to confirm. But given AMD's pattern, I would have to say "no" also. Probably only the top model or two will be unlocked.

2.4 now. Wonder if we'll be able to push to 3.0. This thing would be screaming.
Is this HT only or CPU-NB (L3) ? Last I heard (but you know how rumors are), it was only the HT speed, and no mention of CPU-NB, although I am not sure if that makes sense at all except for feeding 6 cores at full utilization.

Based on my experiences with K10 chips, it seems impossible to use an HT multiplier higher than your NB multiplier. So, if the default HT multi is 12x, then logically speaking, the stock NB multi would be 12x as well (at a minimum).

Then that would be great news. If CPU NB is at 2.4 (20% increase), that would make the Thubans a little better clock for clock than the Denebs, right? Add the turbo functionality, and I can imagine Thuban will be a good deal. Here's to hoping.

I remember you telling me how CPU-NB speed affects minimum frame rates.

Now the question remains how many cores can Thuban turbo? (I have seen tests were this hexcore is losing to the higher clocked natibe quad core in games).

The Thuban has turbo on 3 cores (I'll find the link in the morning, too tired right now - also can't remember if it was a rumor site or official AMD statement). Probably why it is pretty conservative. Supposedly they will turbo half the cores if the other half are not being used.

I am torn apart on this turbo mode.

A lingering question is, how good these overclock. say, a Phenom II X6 1035T: 2.6 GHz is overclocked to 3.1Ghz then there is no use for the turbo feature and since enthusiasts are the first to try it out they don't care, for the most part, about power consumption.

What about core i5's , i7's do ppl use turbo mode even if they overclock it to the limit?
