Arstechnica hates it: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/02/aliens-colonial-marines-review-xenophobia/
Has a score of 45 on metacritic right now, lol..

Wow, that´s just sad, especially considering it was in development for ages.
I really REALLY want this game to be good. But from the previews I've seen it isn't looking all that great. RPS has a preview not long ago and they were far from impressed. They said the aliens didn't pose any threat and you weren't scared of them and the feel was just off. I hope that it changes because I really want to like and get this game.

Lol. Check out this bought-and-payed-for review: http://www.egmnow.com/articles/reviews/egm-review-aliens-colonial-marines/
its all fairly well pacedthanks largely to some excellent level design and solid alien AI.
I can overlook a lot of things but it is the aliens themselves that ruin it. They look and move pathetically.
Isn't that the reason why they never showed Xenomorphs moving around in the first two movies? I thought I remembered hearing that they didn't because it would have looked silly.
So Gearbox is kind of a random developer eh? They hit it with Borderlands, but completely crash and burn with DNF and now this.
Which shows their managerial decisions are just as harmful as their dev team.Well, Gearbox took on a project that was practically already finished by other developers and then finished it themselves.
I got the game for cheap so I took a chance on it, I am more interesting in the multiplayer as that looks pretty cool and from early impressions over the weekend from people that got it early, the multiplayer impressions were all in agreement from what I saw that it is sold.
I haven't played multi yet, will once I finish single. I played the first two missions so far. The game does obviously have issues, but imo it isn't as OMG horrible as people are painting it to be either. Graphics are weak, but funny enough the lighting is pretty good and that is usually harder to pull off. The AI is bad in a lot of areas. The aliens themselves look good though, but they move to slow and don't feel like a real threat which is sad. The audio is good though, a lot of sound effects and music that is ripped from the movies. Gameplay, yes it plays like an older shooter, but that wasn't a minus to me, hell the fact that you need to pick up armor and health packs is an actual plus with the everything regens games we get now. I'm a fan of the movies and you can tell the devs were too with lots of references and such and the feel overall is decent.
All that being said, since I only finished the second mission so far, I can't give a more in depth opinion, but if I had to I'd say it is a 6/10 game. For the price I got it for I can not complain, but it isn't a $50-$60 game.
