Orbius, I disagree. I find it hard to call it a dud when the benchmarks show that it beats the 9700 Pro in many bendhmarks. Also, production models of the FX are rumored to be quieter than the dustbusters that were reviewed. Is it less than expected? Yes. And I own an Radeon 8500, so there is no use in thinking that I am biased one way or the other. Now of course, you can call the FX Ultra dead. Then I would agree with you.
Sully, I agree with Spicedaddy. Cancel and order the 9900, or the buy the FX at a lower price in March (if it is quieter, if it is faster with new drivers, if it is less expensive, if ... if ... if ...). The only problem with the 9900 is that it will be announced March 12th. I would expect delivery in April.
I think you mean .15-micron? Yeah, nj.Originally posted by: Ruckas
However, I think that because ATI didn't take the hit like nvidia, and released a .18 chip. While Nvidia was pimping out a .13 chip. Ati is going to have to play catch up.

<shakes head in disbelief>
Why would I do something that stupid? I've bought EVERY nVidia card since the TNT1. (and every ATI card since the Rage 32) I don't have any brand loyalty, if that's what you're driving at. I buy whatever I feel like playing with, although having a house/family/student loans/etc. has cut me back from the days I switched cards every other month for fun.
I might even have nabbed an nHoover if I hadn't just blown a bunch on sporting goods and my son's birthday.

just curious, checked your rig and you have a GF4. Why would you get a GFFX when your current video card is good enough? Seems like a waste of $400 to me

I would like to thank you all for your imput. I have decided to cancel my Geforce FX order and I will sit back and watch and see what will unfold in the video card market. As a loyal Nvidia fan I find that ATI may be my next choice.
