Thanks bradolson!! The motor that spins the disc in my dreamcast only works for about 20 minutes. I have an xbox now, but i miss some of my dreamcast games. With about 15 games and 3 memory cards for dreamcast, $20 for a new (to me, it is preowned) system is a good deal.

have you looked into laser calibration problems? from what i hear the disc will stop spinning if it cant read it correctly, and its vary common for laser calibration problems to arise w/ DC's... do a search and u can see how to fix it, i did it before when I was having a reading problem and it fixed my DC, in any instance this is a hot deal, i paied $33 shipped for mine off half.com a while ago, but i pretty much only use it for nester emulator, and just using it for that its worth it
It may be a hit and miss thing. I too have read that "no, it doesn't matter - ALL DC's can read backups". However, I can attest that I have a 10/2000 model that does not. I got another one at GameStop a couple of weeks ago for this same $20, minus 30% on all DC gear, so it was a DC with controller and video cable for $14. Not too shabby. They had about a dozen of them.Originally posted by: mnkyboy311
Anyone know if you can return the system if its not a pre 10-2000 model? Ive read that the newer models cant read cdr backups, and other people say they CAN read them. WTF??
Does EBGames take these back at all? What if it doesnt even work/play regular games??
