'Preacher' Comic pilot ordered by AMC

It's not aliens, it's "The Word of God" seeking a vessel to pass...well, the word. Jesse is a shitty Preacher with not more faith and God saw that as an opportunity, something like that. The one that controls the Word can "control" behaviors of others and force them to do things.

There's also weird stuff going on, Cassidy, a vampire, seem pretty Chaotic Neutral in his behavior. Colorful character he is.

There's also those weird guys that are searching for the one with the Word. I can't recall the comic but IIRC they were in it.

There will be a lot of weird characters introduced along the journey. It's a pretty f'ed up and awesome world.

I'm hoping they show the Saint of Killers. Probably the coolest character in the books.

It's funny to read the comic nerd superhero battle threads in the comic forums. Many comic nerds think Saint of Killers is the most powerful comic book character ever created.

Wikipedia says the "thing" is the result of a coupling between a demon and an angel. It's both pure good, and pure evil. My thought was Jesse has the same duality, so it can live in him without exploding him like the African and Russian.

Pretty much this. I still have no idea whats going on half the time. But it's got me interested enough to keep tuning in.

I really like it. Never seen or heard of the comic before -- I heard of Priest and saw the movie.

Production can't be that expensive in the middle of nowhere with a relatively small cast.

That's funny when most of the TV shows today are filmed in Canada. Yeah, I don't think the film industry can claim to be 'Murican except when they whine to US government that torrents are stealing 'Murican work.

Link is spoiler for comics, not sure if any of it will end up in show. It might however spoil some characters and what they'll end up doing. It's a top ten list (broken into 3 pages) of things that wouldn't make it from the comic to the TV because of how out there it is. As the show splits off from the books a lot, it's hard to say what will be in the show.
