Boiling down to a contest between the hard line republican establishment and the republican parties so called outsiders.
The republican establishment are the very same people that brought you Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, Bush senior, Bob Dole (remember Bob Dole? Anyone? Anyone?), GW Bush, John McCain, Mitt Romney (and THAT was not easy), and now Jeb Bush.

I still believe 100% (and you should too) that the republican establishment will win this battle.
They will spend whatever money and arm twisting it takes to protect the establishment.
After all, THAT IS the republican party. The Ronald Reagan party. The conservative party. The pro military party. The pro corporation party. The pro banking party. The top 1% party.

Jeb will win, one way or the other, and most likely the other.
Arm twisting at the state conventions. Threats. Threat of party expulsion.
Threats to the states. Threats to the republican leadership in the states where this applies.
Threats to the republican leadership within the states.

Republicans are typically do-or-die loyal animals to their party establishment.
That will not change. And we will see Jeb wining in actual state caucuses, state primaries, and into the RNC convention, because THAT is how it works.
Jeb knows that.

Jeb will be on death watch and his polls will prove disastrous through Iowa.
But then..... It will be Jeb all the way.
All it takes is a little old fashion arm twisting. A lot of arm $$$twisting$$$.

Jeb will definitely be the republican nominee. Pauper Marco's smooth talk can only take him so far, Ted's kool-aid drinkers do not have the strength to carry him far, establishment does not believe in Chris, rest are ignorable. Now per for the title of the thread, the general election, that's a different ball game.

I realize everyone wants to be the first to prove the OP to be totally full of shit, but you're not doing yourselves any favors by jumping the gun like this. Bush will pull out of the race at some point, just wait for that headline. It's coming, so you might as well be patient.

Poll: Support For Jeb Bush May Be Nearing Zero Percent

When respondents were asked which candidate they would not be willing to support in their state’s primary, Bush had the most opposition with 50 percent stating they would not vote for him.

“These are frightening numbers for Bush,” Raymond La Raja, associate director of the UMass Poll, said. “More than half of registered primary voters said they would not be willing to vote for him under any scenario. No other top-tier candidate faces this wall of unconvinced voters. Bush may think his campaign treasury will help him outlast other candidates, but that strategy seems implausible if voters do not list him as their second or third choice.”

“This poll is more evidence of the anti-establishment mood in the Republican electorate — Republican voters seem strongly opposed to nominating another career Republican party leader,” Schaffner added.

Given the 6.4 percent margin of error in the poll results, and the 3 percent of votes Bush received, Conservative Review concludes his actual support statistically may be closer to zero.

Why in the world is he still in the race? He is almost reviled by the electorate at this point. He can't possibly win.

I'm pretty sure he thinks he can ride this out. Once a few states vote and he loses he will drop, technically I think it will be his donors that jump ship. However if he actually wins some states I'm sure he thinks his strategy of riding this out will start paying off and his momentum will start to build.

I actually think his moribund campaign could conceivably be revived. I don't believe any of the current three front-runners (Trump, Carson, Cruz) are viable candidates, and given time I expect all of them will recede into statistical insignificance. To me the smart money is on Rubio, but I would not discount the possibility of a Bush resurgence.

bush is sheltering in place waiting for the storm to pass. There is a lot of establishment and wallstreet money invested in his nomination.

Bush becoming president will be the biggest upset in political history and there will be books written about it. You heard it here first.

at this point it looks like the republican party is going to be willing to sacrifice candidates such as bush in an effort to take down Trump. Keeping failures like Bush in the race gives a screen of legitimacy as to why Bush raised $$ would be spent on attack ads against Trump.

When Trump takes the Republican nomination I expect the republican establishment to secretly throw in with the Democrats to try and get Hillary elected. The establishment wants somebody it can control, it is no good to have a person at the top who isn't bought and paid for by contributions (puppeteer ready).

I never liked the idea of another Bush (or Clinton) becoming President.

But I never expected Bush to be this poor of a candidate. Aside from the gaffes etc, he just seems to whine when he speaks. An uncharismatic, uninspiring, whiny goofball.

Unless there is a epic turnaround in his campaign I see zero chance for him to be nominated.

I don't live in FL so aside from his family connections I knew little about him. I've been surprised at what a poor candidate/campaigner he is.

The only reason why he even got this far is solely due to his name. Nothing more.

If any other joe blow with no connections was like this guy he wouldn't even get a spot at the kids table debate.

This will absolutely happen. A large portion of the establishment, and especially the monied establishment, actually contributes to both sides of the aisle.

Best part about this is his Wall Street funding, I love when they bet and lose, they should have zero influence.
