From what they have shown, they are removing a bit of the campy stuff, but that could still be in and we just haven't seen it.
not sure what you mean bout campy stuff, but i'm just talkin about being able to chop zombies in half with a kitana blade or get a mega man outfit like exdeath is saying, or throw a barbell at a zombie. i hope it's not just all finding guns and baseball bats to "kill" zombies with.

So it wasn't a game for you but for many many others it was. This is another one of those instances where a publisher takes an existing IP and stripes out all that made it unique to make it appeal to a larger audience while alienating those who made the IP successful.
The whole charm and fun of Dead Rising games was you doing crazy ass shit. Slapping a megaman/lego head on a zombie taking a picture of it and then killing it with a weedwacker all the while you are wearing a dress.
I own and enjoy both DR games on the PC (I had DR1 when it came out on the 360 as well) and loved them because they weren't your run of the mill fifty shades of brown typical games.
They in all honesty could of made this a totally new IP and imo it would had been accepted a lot better and would of gotten more kudos as well for it. As it stands, you piss off previous fans of the IP to appeal to dudebro and others instead.
There is plenty of room for both types, why do we have to continue to watch existing IPs get massacred to cater to a larger audience. They were already popular enough to make multiple games ffs.

If Sony did the same thing they would be getting treated just as bad and don't even act like that wouldn't be the case. No one here is all over Sony's dick, sure it looks like it because they are doing the right thing, but that just happens to align with doing the right thing.
