It's going to be a little less than 3 weeks before Trump becomes the new POTUS. We are in for major changes. More changes than anyone could fathom. What are your predictions?

*Obamacare
*Economy
*Immigration
*Welfare
*SSI, Medicaid
*The Wall
*Education
*Tarrifs
*Ban on Muslims
*War on ISIS, Terrorism
*China, Russia
*Supreme Court Pick
*Trump's Popularity
*Bringing Jobs Back to America
*The Environment

Trump is going to go into his new role as POTUS with a ton of fanfare. From the people who have voted for him. But, when the party is over and he's 6 months into his job people are going to want results. If he's not able to gain traction he's going to dig deeper in his bag of tricks. That's when we could see mass deportations of all illegals. This could cause much panic among all immigrants. Legal and illegal. The economy could go straight into a tailspin. Because of his ego I wouldn't be surprised if he starts to attack certain groups. We will probably see many more protests in our major cities.

Obviously. Repub ideology holds that there's nothing wrong with the economy that tax cuts for the wealthy won't cure completely because it all trickles down in some magical fashion that has yet to manifest itself over the last 35 years.

Don't they say it takes a decade for the effects from the previous predicency to take effect? So, in the 90s when we had that economic boom it really wasn't Clinton, but Reagan. I still doubt this but many Reagen supporters will tell you it was trickle down economics.

I have a suspicion that the Trump administration is going to get itself into trouble fairly quickly. Not necessarily right away, but months rather than years. A few key issues:

1. The emolument clause in the Constitution. There are already conflicts of interest, such as diplomats staying at Trump-owned hotels. What happens when there's a clear conflict of interest for something that Trump really values? Will he back down, or will his insatiable desire for wealth lead to a standoff?

2. Trump's personality getting in the way. He's egocentric, needy and vindictive, and that's clearly a problem (see: his repeated urges to limit free speech rights). However, part of the problem is also that his life will have to change when he's in office. What happens when he can't tweet at 3AM from his Android phone, because he's not allowed to use his Android phone? What happens when he has to go to a summit or meeting he really doesn't want to attend? It's clear that he's more interested in the trappings of power than actually wielding it, and he may get frustrated when he realizes that being President involves... y'know, real work and responsibility.

3. Pushback against his administration. Many of his cabinet picks are either people who know nothing about how to run a given department or even have a desire to destroy the department they're tasked with running. There's a real concern that these leaders will either mismanage things (if simply by delegating their work to others) or try to undermine a department's goals (see: the preemptive witch hunt against DoE climate change truth-tellers). There could be instances where departments actively refuse orders because they either undermine the department's goals or are out-and-out illegal.

4. Corruption. We've talked about this a ton already, so I'll just say this: picking leaders who have a vested interest in protecting big business (because they are big business), or making sweet deals with Russia, is extremely problematic.

What really sucks is his VP choice. Under Trumps presidency I expect Pence to be the most powerful VP of all time in the things that will get delegated his way. Perhaps not even Cheney will compare by the time everything is said and done.

If only Trump picked someone like Joh Huntsman for VP. =(

It's almost like Trump knew what he was doing by both securing the religious vote AND ensuring no one wants to see a succession occur.

Doesn't help that Pence also believes in the myth of gay conversion therapy, among many other problems.

They will let him run wild for a year while he rubber stamps the GOPs cuts to SS and medicare, then when they get sick of him they'll impeach him, put pence in, and go back to claiming they are the party of reagan. They will claim they were always against trump, and when he is gone they will blame him for all the terrible things that happen when they cut the safety net out from millions of people.

I'll bite.
1. Obamacare as we know it right now will be ended, it will be replaced by expanding coverage of previous laws and new ones written as band-aids.
2.Economy will continue to improve.
3.Immigration- legal immigration will be scaled back and illegal immigrants will face faster hearings and more deportations. Self deportations will increase.
4.SSI-Medicaid will be about the same.
5.The Wall will be under construction, it will include different border controls and won't be the great wall of China as envisaged by the left.
6.Education alternatives will get greater support from the Feds. Charter schools, trade schools etc.
7.Tariffs will increase on some imported goods. Trade wars will be threatened.
8.No ban on Muslims, but closer examination of immigrants and visas alng with better tracking methods.
9.ISIS and terrorism will still be a problem.
10.Worse relations with China, better with Russia.
11.Most excellent Supreme Court pick, one already on the list.
12.Trump will continue to be popular with Americans.
13.More jobs and better economy.
14.No change in the actual environment, better fiscal policy on programs.
My opinion is that the country will be incrementally better off. Leftists and Democrats will be increasingly angry.

I imagine the next year will be pretty good economically. The economy is already functioning well and I predict we will see the Republican obsession with debt and deficits magically disappear as soon as a Real American is president instead of the Kenyan Usurper. This probably means fiscal stimulus, however ineptly done.

Fiscal stimulus is of course what we needed more of for the past eight years or so but conservatives were too partisan to enact. Now that the economy is functioning fairly well we will be getting it anyway, which will probably increase inflation expectations (good!) and lead the fed to raise rates. Because the fiscal stimulus looks likely to be almost entirely in the form of tax cuts for the ultra rich the actual growth impact will be modest.

So basically my prediction is similar growth to 2016, probably a bit higher, with dramatically higher deficits.

I predict Trump will have at least one major scandal within his first year that will limit his ability to produce big changes as President.

I don't expect the economy to crash this year, but it's probably coming. I do expect more inflation.

Trump will go from his stellar ~24% popularity rating to an impressive 4% popularity rating. He'll blame Mexicans, Jews, Fat chicks, and Obama.

Trump boasts of saving 500 jobs.
The national unemployment rate skyrockets double digit.
