Mike Pence will likely be our 46th President, if only for a day, just so he can pardon Trump. Fixie-fixie. All done. Fuck you, libtards.

So far I've been very impressed with the Democrats, we now have Mueller in sworn testimony describing how the president committed multiple felonies.

Excellent work by Judiciary so far, this is the most effective questioning I have ever seen.
And yet, it will change no one's mind. Everyone will take from this that which reinforces what they are already inclined to believe, the underlying facts be damned. Trumptards will imbibe what Fox News opionators present. Sad but true.

Where's Pelosi?

LIEU (D-CA): "The reason, again, that you did not indict Donald Trump is because of the OLC opinion stating that you cannot indict a sitting president, correct?

MUELLER: That is correct.

Huh-uhh! Like, Totally Exonerated, Man! Totally!

I disagree. It won't change the hard core Trumpers' minds but that's not the point. The hard core Trumpsters are only about 30% of the electorate and they can simply be ignored.

But I also don't think that anyone engaged enough to care in any depth, pro or con, will have their minds changed, simply selectively reinforced. As for the rest of our electorate not engaged in any depth, nothing will impact their consciousness enough to make them say, "Whereas everything up to now left me not having any strong opinion whatsoever, NOW I do."

Don't be so sure. Support for Nixon impeachment was incredibly low until the hearings. Then everything changed. The hard core won't budge but the independents and those on the fence already... I'll admit this is a lot more damning than I thought it would be.

This is an excellent exercise for all to witness of how republicans are so caught up within this Trump cult.
Forget about the hearing itself, watch the republicans and how they act during their questioning.
While democrats stick to the report and the details, republicans want only to drink the kool-aid and to protect the cult leader.
This exercise in idiocy and how a cult functions is amazing and exposes a lot of why republicans are so caught up within this Trump cult. And how their minds concerning individual thinking and individual behavior has all but been eliminated by the cult.
The purpose of a cult is to control the minds of its members.
This is exactly what we are seeing here, live, today on TV.
Amazing, simply amazing.
What an education.
And now we know a little bit more of how and why republicans, once reasonable patriotic republicans, have been caught up and have lost their way.
Amazing. Scary as hell, but still amazing.

Yeah but at that time both parties in general cared about the truth...this time, not so sure.

Anything to do with impeachment needs GOP support...do you see that happening?

The thing that has been repeated over and over is that if anyone else took the actions of this public official, they'd have been charged and would likely be in prison.

But the "law and order/personal responsibility" party DGAF when it's their guy.

It needs public support. If the GOP see public support shifting they might, just might, realize what that could mean to them in 2020 and shift as well.

That's a big might...

Even if they played a tape of Trump telling people to lie and obstruct the investigation this will convince ZERO Fox News Trump supporters of a single thing other than Libtards bad, how can Trump be guilty of covering up something that never happened...

Vote them all out.

We now have the special counsel agreeing under oath that the president ordered documents falsified to obstruct a criminal investigation into himself and his associates.

How can you hear that and not impeach. The inquiry needs to be opened tomorrow.

Lots of people are figuring out that they've been hornswaggled. Trump can't win in 2020 on the basis of his delusional base alone.

We can see how Republicans will be spinning this and it looks to be the same as how Barr spun this.

They are looking to hammer how the investigation started in the first place and they will focus on the reports conclusions instead of the evidence found. The conclusion, I will remind everyone, was highly influenced by department policy to not indict a sitting president.

They're also repeatedly hammering on the fact that Mueller wasn't actually fired. As if that somehow is relevant at all to whether someone obstructed justice. Of course they know better, but they're just hoping to make a highlight clip for Fox News.

It's fucking amazing watching the GOP, after weeks of saying Mueller must stick to the report only and nothing else are now flipping their shit because he won't go into detail about things outside the report.

It's almost like they want sound bites so they can say he was evasive.

This looks like a bust to me. No minds will be changed and those who have bothered to follow this investigation will only be further entrenched in a position they've already had.

This turned out exactly how I expected it to.

I know this sounds crazy but sometimes I think some of our elected representatives aren't acting in good faith.

I have to say there's at least two absolutely catastrophic things that have come out so far, so this has definitely exceeded my expectations.

The Judiciary Democrats did a really good job here.

Video carries more punch than text. It shouldn't, but it does. Having Mueller state aloud, on camera, what is in his report is a big deal.

Don't be so sure. Support for Nixon impeachment was incredibly low until the hearings. Then everything changed.

The average person just watches the nightly news where you will see things like this played:

In that vastly different time, one could more reasonably say that "the average person" got their news from network TV. In today's fragmented media landscape, those who are still getting their news primarily from network TV are the very least engaged in politics. What you presented may flicker across their screens, f-spy (skimo?) (I love your username), but they will not be paying strict attention enough to NOW, after all that has transpired, suddenly conclude that Trump needs to go while they simultaneously play candy crush or yell at their kids.

If they haven't by now, the coverage of these particular hearings isn't going to suddenly engage them. I wish this wasn't so, but I fear it is.
