Predictions for the ranks of this series of consoles?

I know it's early, but based upon pricing and other early factors, who do you think will win this round?

Hard to tell, the xbox360 still doesn't have a single game I want to play, aside from the Killzone trailer, I haven't really anitipated anything on the PS3. Strangely enough, the Wii is the only one Im considering buying...

I think we'll have a different scenario this time. As much as sony just screwed up by the ridiculous price, I think we'll still have PS3 winning in Japan due to the large disinterest in xbox 360. However, in America I think Xbox 360 has this won. I don't think people are going to care very much how much more slightly powerful PS3 is. The Xbox 360 will be in stock, have a larger library of games that appeal to Americans (PC style rpgs, First person shooters, emphasis on online play) and the price should give it a huge advantage.

I think Wii will sell just fine and make profit, Nintendo games are too great to resist.

ps3 will win for sure just because of all exclusive titles, but the xbox 360 will make up lots of market share at the expense of sony.

nintendo's wii will put them back in the console race, depending on software support, it could end up second place.

regardless, this will be a very close one.

i think its actually going to be a close run. the price of the PS3 is way to much. then we have the fact that the 360 is going to drop in price. but i dont think it will be as cheap as the WEEEE!

Wii will cost $250, and everyone will have one, and have either an 360 or PS3 as their main system. (I predict this will happen towards the end of the system wars.)

People were paying upwards of $1000 on ebay at the time that the Xbox 360 launched, and it still doesn't have any games that I want to play. I was really interested in getting the 360 because it looks and sounds awesome, but there's just nothing that I feel like playing on that system that I can't get for PC!

I think this is a battle between the Wii and the PS3. Sony just has better exclusive games. The PS3 is the most high-tech of all 3 systems, and it's the only one that comes with a blue-ray player. It's pricey, but I doubt sales are going to suffer much considering the hardware in the box. A blue-ray player alone is probably not going to be much cheaper than the PS3.

The Wii has that freaky controller (a plus in my opinion, moving away from tradition). And it's Nintendo. They'll have some fun titles. And it's going to be very cheap. Nuff said

The 360 really has nothing going for it except an early launch. It has very few exclusive titles, of which there aren't many good games (I'm not a Halo fan). I'm sorry, but there's just nothing there.

In the end, I think the Wii might sell the most units because it's just so damn affordable, followed by the PS3. Hopefully the list some additional "extras" that the premium PS3 model will come with, if any.

I'm actually looking forward to the Wii. Sony is going to do well, better than the 360 I think.

Wii has a lot going for it if it can pull it off in the end.

I really dont like the xbox360. I have played it and it does nothing for me. None of the games get me that excited and the games that do I will be able to play on the others.

PS3 is messed up. Sony really dropped the ball on this one. They were ahead of everyone and now they areletting everyone catch up. I still think in the end it will be the better system then the xbox360...its just the late launch, high price, and lack of delivery on goods will hurt. It just has too many games for it and a large fan base to come in last...EXPECIALLY in japan. No way xbox is winning that one.

I think the Wii will win casue of its low price, wide appeal, old collection of games, and cool look. Even if its considered the second system in some homes..if everyone gets Xbox or a PS3 AND a Nintendo..Nintendo will win.

Actually, to get the blu-ray version with HDMI it is $200 over the Xbox360. The $500 PS3 is gimped and does not come with HDMI, wifi, or memory card slots and (so far) looks like it isn't upgradeable.

Sony has the most power, but the highest price of entry, and is the hardest to program for.

Xbox is right down the middle.

Wii is cheapest and easiest to develop for, but weakest of the 3.

I see the home console market splitting like the portable console market did. I see the PS3 winning the high end race and the Wii winning the low end race while the 360 is stuck being too expensive to compete with the Wii and not powerful enough to compete with the PS3.

I have to agree with this. But I don't think its graphics power that will give the ps3 the edge in high end. I really think that the graphics on xbox 360 and ps3 will be similar or the same especially on multi platform games.
What I believe will push the ps3 in the high end market is 1080p output on hdmi and blu-ray. I feel that the same thing that happened with the ps2 will happen with ps3 in that people will buy the console not necessarily for its game aspects, but because its a cheap blu ray player.

Hard to say, I think the marketshare will be similar for Sony and MS in the N. American market, with Sony winning in the Asian markets. Europe will probably resemble N. America.

Overall I think MS will take a bite out of Sony this round. Blu Ray and 1080p are things most people probably gives two shats about. How many people even have a 1080p screen? DVD Mediums are like the tape mediums 20 years ago. In the end the market decides, not some company.

Bingo, after last night, they sealed it for me. I'll skip PS3, 360 and Wii for me it looks like at this point.

No, if the 360 loses it will certainly be because of something OTHER than system power.

BTW, OP, are you asking which one will sell the most or which will be most profitable? I think in order of profitability :

Wii > 360 > PS3

true! How many PS1 games are even worth playing? 0 for me. as for PS2 I can only think of 1 game...Guitar Hero.
Another thing...people are making a big deal about the PS3 having blu-ray, but when the ps2 came out everybody was making a big deal about how it played DVD?s. Would you want a PS2 as your primary DVD player in your home theater nowadays? Same situation now with the PS3 except it?s not DVD?s, it?s blu-ray
