I posted a Hot Deal concerning PC133 SDRAM CAS2 for $53, free shipping January 6, 2001.
I bought this memory stick, but there may be a problem with this deal. I'm posting here to inform you who may have purchased this memory in response to my posting.
After receiving my order, which arrived in good time, the memory functioned just fine, except my system will not boot up from a cold state. After first punching the power on button, the system will not boot. I would have to turn the power off, wait a few seconds, punch the button again, and then the system would boot OK.
However, that is not the problem. Premier Systems represented that the memory was CAS2. Their website said so. I downloaded and ran Sisoft Sandra. Sisoft Sandra reported that the memory was CAS3, with a "333" designation. I have stick of stick of PC100 CAS2 Mushkin Samsung Orignals, and Sisoft Sandra correctly identified this stick as CAS2.
I emailed Premier Systems on January 26, 2001, with this information, and asking for a response. They replied with a request for the markings on the memory stick they sent me.
On January 27, 2001, I sent Premier Systems an email containing the following:
"The markings on the memory stick I got from you are: On the stick-on labels:
"SHM16B 00C3A, QC PASS 3-51, PC133 128MB."
On each of the memory chips: "KIC 00487 TBS6408B4E-7".
The Sisoft Sandra report for this memory stick is as follows: "MOSEL
TM4SN64EPH-10 128MB 16x(8Mx8) SDRAM PC133U-333-542 (CL3 upto 133MHz)".
It is clear to me that the "333" reading means that the stick you sold me
has a CAS 3 rating rather than the CAS 2 you represented on your website.
In order to test the accuracy of Sisoft Sandra's functionality, Sisoft
Sandra reported the following for my 64MB Mushkin Samsung Original stick:
"Samsung KMM3 66S 823CTS-GH 20676000 64MB 8x(8Mx8) SDRAM PC100-222-622 (CL3
upto 100MHz) (CL2 upto 100MHz)", which is correct."
As of this posting date, I have not received a reply to this last email from Premier Systems.
