That's sort of the problem, though - not for you personally, but for independence and entrepreneurship. Your company is paying a shit ton of premium to offer you 100% coverage - if you ever wanted to strike out on your own or go elsewhere, health insurance becomes a major concern. Because you're no longer part of a huge discounted group, you will pay exorbitant amounts to keep your family insured. There is no shortage of people out there afraid to transition employment because they are afraid of the insurance ramifications.
I actually may be doing exactly that with the startup I co-founded. If/when we actually get funding and start hiring people, I'm 100% positive my tune will completely flip flop.

Way back in the 90s, a friend posited that going to a single payer system would unleash a wave of entrepreneurial activity as people were freed of employer based insurance. People are willing to go broke chasing their dreams but they usually aren't willing to risk their family's health.

As do I because those are infrastructure costs. Health Care is not.

And why not? Makes no sense as to why those things are paid for by taxes and healthcare is not.
It was a STUPID idea decades ago to tie it to our employment.

Not for me!

Still pay $0 out of pocket for the plan for myself and my family, company covers it 100%.

Well, indirectly you are sort of paying for it... it's part of your complete compensation package. If your employer is paying 100% of your coverage, and lets say that coverage costs $2000/month (it's likley more) that's $24K per year they are not paying you in salary that they could be (though of course you'd be luckily to see half of it before taxes)

It's like saying Canadians have "free health care"

Well duh, just like when you still have to pay for the premium your company is also typically paying part of it. It's obvious that it's part of the total compensation package just like days off are, 401k, etc. Considering my salary though, I'm pretty sure my company isn't hurting at all.

But as I mentioned, I'm paying "$0 out of my pocket" for it.

Yeah, but our business plan has health insurance in it so when we are asking for funding, that is part of what it's for, for us and other employees. So it's not like I would be self employed like working with contract work - I'd be an employee of my own company.

Granted I know jack shit about any of this since it's completely new to me. Investors may hate that we're asking for money for health insurance at this stage in the game lol.

I'm an employee of mine too (corp sub s). Not group eligible with only another part timer. No idea what what a group plan requirements are.

Best of with the business. Until this ACA crap, the happiest I've ever been going to work.
