I just got this in my e-mail

I have no idea if this will be a nice mouse or not. I am going to wait for the reviews. However I know some people really love Razor and will want to pre order.

Looks like a real nice mouse.
Anyone have any experience with the "Boomer".

I'm using a boomer speed right now. It's a great mouse.

1000 dpi? Aren't mice higher than that? My Logitech Mouseman dual optical has 2 800 dpi sensors (though only one works at a time). I don't see much information on the resolution (dpi) of newer mice. Many claim thousands of samples per second, but that doesn't tell you at what resolution.

I loved the original boomslang, but they were awfully unreliable and squeaked. Now with no moving parts, hopefully the bad things are no more.

Yeah, weird. The Razer Boomer Speed is 2100 DPI. The Logitech MX700 and 900 are 800 DPI. Maybe 1000 is good for an optical mouse.

Works for me, but I'm using Mozilla Firebird.

I love my Boomslangs. Will wait to see how this one is. They do tend to release 'Betas'... after the 3rd Rev of the Boomslang 2100, seems like most of the quirks are dealt with.

Tomshardware has an exceptional review and explains everything about mice you wanted to know. Seeing that my wireless mouse feet are all worn out, I may pick up the wired MX310 at Bestbuy today. $19.99. This mouse is suposedly really good for gamin.

It's great for gaming. I've been using it for months now. My sniping skills went way up on americas army after using it. Very accurate and smooth.

I read that review by Tom, and honestly I thought it was kind of sucky. Regardless of what nonsense he spouts, my boomslang moves quickly and accuratley with just the slightest movements of my wrist. I like that. The extra DPI is WORTH it to me, and alot of others.

Besides, everyone knows Tom is a total chode and POS.

The feet are work so you're getting a new mouse? Just put some teflon tape on there.

Teflon tape, uhh. I may try that.
I just got the MX310 and been trying it out on Call of Duty. It's definetly smoother. I thought it may be annoying going back to a wired mouse, but not too bad.

The Boomslang 2100 is identical to the Boomer Speed, and I have 4 of them if it tells you how much I love 'em. I don't even game very much on 3 of the machines, but they are incredibly accurate and comfortable (at least for my big hands) for all tasks. I hope the Viper can come close to matching the others.

No, the logitech had the highest dpi for an optical mouse (800 dpi)
The viper has 1000 dpi and the speed has 2100 dpi.

The samples per minute is about how fast you can move the mouse without it skipping. The old MS mice had 1500 scans per second and would bug out if you moved it fast. The new MS mice have 6000 scans per second and you can whip it across the pad and it will track fine. Same goes for the MX series.

I used to own a razor and thought it was very accurate but the awkard size of the mouse put me off. Plus, the buttons were so sensitive I couldnt even rest my fingers on them without my gun firing. The Viper seems like it only has the two buttons? That will make or break a sale for me....I need MORE buttons!

I am probably one of the 5% of people who don't really like the shape of the Boomslang, so I am very interested in the Viper's new shape. Add that to the fact that I hate mouseballs and have a half-dozen red LED fans and neon in my case and I am really starting to like this Viper mouse!

Are these mice that much better then say the mx500 and or the mx310? is it worth the upgrade from this logitech mice or just a way to get your money? I am a hardcore gamer and I am always looking for an edge, Is this part of that edge? LMK! thanks

I have the mx300 and love it for gaming, and I never use my Boomslang 1000 or 2100, so I fugure I can sell those and try out the Viper and see how it compares to the mx300.

Well, in my opinion, and the opinion of other boomslang owners, it is worth the money. I have the new boomer speed which is a 2100 they just released, It's a new version with all the bugs of the old one worked out. Some people will point you to the tomshardware review and he doesnt thin it's worth it. However, personally I don't really put any stock in anything Tom says, so if you cite tomshardware it means less than nothing to me.

In you're situation however, I would wait until the new viper comes out before deciding between teh viper and the boomer speed. I guess here are the facts:

Is it faster (Meaning it takes less movement to move farther) than other mice? Yes, byt quite a bit.

Is it more accurate? Yes, it is the best mouse I have used for accuracy. Another great feautre the software has is on the fly sensitivity. you just hold a button down and then move the mouse wheel. This is great because you can switch between low sensitivity for things like sniping, to high sesitivity for other things all while in game.

I think it's worth, some people don't. However most people who don't are talking about the old version, so they are really not being very realistic.

I like the look of the new Logitech MX510

It's Red and Black and also has 800dpi

Looks like it would be a great gaming mouse

It's all preference. I don't like the way my wrist is bent upward so much when using the mx500, which is why I prefer the smaller size of the mx300. I'll likely eBay my two boomslangs and get the Viper to try out, and eBay that if I don't like it.

Personally I find all the logitech mice to be way too small, and it gives me hand cramps. I havent used the viper yet, so I cant really give an opinion on how comfortable it is.
