STI has a new hot deal. Sti Mobile LG vi5225 Phone Package #185 Free AR
paymecell takes 20% off. Shipping is $5.75. Total with shipping and $10 air time is $84.75
The code was posted by a cheapphonecards representative, so it's legit to post it here.
link to cheapphonecards

Here's a quote from a cheapphonecards rep: "We will have the LG 5225's in stock next week Wed. or Thurs.
The new rebate form will be posted on both the Sti and on our site within the next few days.
The phone is on our site. We would prefer you to order next week, but if you order now, we will create an invoice using the date we ship the phone to allow time for you to submit the rebate."

Don't buy the LG1200.

STICKY this thread. It'll never die.

My brother just purchased a phone from cheapphonecards with the sti package plan. I will probably do it too this week... I read through a bit, and it was mentioned in the ocean of posts on this thread but I couldn't find a concise answer, before I try and email them, I was wondering if anyone happens to know if you can unlock an old SPRINT PCS phone to work with STI since they use their network? (someone mentioned about buying one off of ebay, and unlocking it, but I already have an old sprint phone from a previous contract)

Edit:Nevermind my question... but yeah I'm ordering it.

Back to the front for this thread, I am still looking for a better price on the T Mobile $100 refill. Cheapphonecards has 5%, and maybe some coupon are around, but can't be posted here.

Hmm after reading all the posts, I'm still kinda confused. So far I think STI and T-Mobile are the top choices, but T-Mobile coverage of my area is really bad. I'm currently on a T-Mobile plan which ends this month so I'm looking to get a prepaid card since my usage isn't that high. I have a couple of questions:
Do any of these prepaid plans have free nights/weekends/cell to cell/long distance?
Is roaming free?
Other than STI, do the minutes expire after 1-2 months?
Is there any chance of keeping my old number?
I don't really need a free new phone since I already have a SE T610, and I don't like to deal with rebates anyway.

I'll try to provide answers with regard to STI Mobile

No, no free minutes at all.
Is roaming free?
No since STI Mobile doesn't supporting roaming now.

No

Yes, they have a process setup to port your existing number.

This isn't an option. STI Mobile will only work with a couple of handsets that you can view on their website.

All your questions are covered in the thread, a few times.

No free minutes. Don't use second hand news for plan details like Roaming, READ the plan on the official site. I was smart last month when I was still shopping, and went with T Mobile, but remembering a new phone number has pushed all the old info out of main storage.

T Mobile with $100 refill last a year, and give rollover for another year with more refills of any size.

Porting your old number seems mostly an issue with whoever "has" control of your old number, they have zero incentive to do it fast or easy.

You must have a phone that works with the service, Two choices with STi, any T Mobile with T Mobile.

No news, but let's keep it alive. There's lots of good info here.

After reading about other people's complaints about STI phones, and their 4 month rebate waiting period, I'm leaning toward Virgin Mobile or T-Mobile-To-Go.

I recently did the T-Mobile ToGo thing, after reading the FW thread about the Target-Staples PM deal. So I got the phone for $0.50 AR, a $100 phone card for 10% off at Target, so 1000 min @ 9c/min + remainder of starter activation minutes == good deal for light-duty cell-phone users like myself. I'm still trying to figure out all of the "goodies" on the 6010 phone, like AIM, e-mail, and whether or not I should set GPRS to "always connected" or not. I still can't figure out whether or not GPRS, or using AIM, deducts from your minutes/account or not. GPRS data isn't supposed to, and AIM and t-zones use GPRS when possible, but it seems that if you lose the signal, it auto-connects using a different method that starts to use your minutes, and because of how they charge, from the split-second that it happens, even if you cancel that call, you still get charged for a minumum of one minute. Still, using AIM when possible, costs me less than $1/day for usage.

I recently got the Tmobil to go for my wife. The coverage is MUCH better than virgin mobil in my area(north centeral Alabama) and the rates are better.

I went Sti way and very pleasant. Phone is very simplistic but very nice, good reception and battery life. It stands for two weeks. and it's important for not heavy callers.

No

So STI minutes expire after a month or two?

No -- STI minutes do not expire so long as you place a minimum of one call every 60 days. I've been happy with my STI service, except that the Sprint network coverage area is not terrific in my area.

VirtualLarry,

I also got the Target 6010 deal. Via http://unlock.nokiafree.org/ I was able to unlock my phone on the first try and now I can use it with my Cingular service or any other GSM provider. I chose Gen original and model 6100 and tried code #7 first and it worked.

Just fyi.

Only if the GSM phone is Tri-Band. to use the 1900 Network, which Cingular and ATT use.

There's an 11% discount on STI refill cards. Check the other forums for the additional 8% coupon code from cheapphonecards.com.
I got the FAR LG 5225 phone from cheapphonecards. Hopefully the rebate will come without any problems. It's a simless phone so I can't use my old phone with it.
I wanted to port my T-mobile number but unfortunately the contract didn't expire until a couple days after the deadline to submit the rebate. I converted my T-mobile to prepaid after the contract did expire. I think I have 15 anytime minutes or 30 days to refill it or I lose my number. I haven't decided if I want to get a $100 refill card and not have to worry about it for a year or just get a $25 card then port the number to my STI phone...

My phone is LG vi5225. After spending too much on Virgin Mobile, I decided to buy another STi mobile phone as VM replacment. They have deal for LG 225 Picture Phone, however it isn't free, $100 rebate just cover 2/3 of $150 full price. How is good this phone? Does it cost so much money? Maybe some discount code is available, because I have code only for 2% discount.

Does anyone know how the Samsung A660 compares to the LG 5225? I picked one up at the Staples BF sale, but I can still return it if the 5225 is better. It's also FAR. Haven't activated with STi yet, of course.

edit: N/M. russw responded in other thread about this phone

Sorry to drudge up an old thread, but has anyone been able to get on the phone with a STI mobile rep lately? I've tried 3 times now, and I keep waiting and waiting forever for a rep to come on the line. I've tried emailing them and get no reply. I have no way of telling them to deactivate the mobile web, or ask them questions i had about their service.

If it weren't for this rebate, I'd stop using STI mobile altogether. Don't get me wrong, service and all was fine, phone is good too (a660), but nonexistant support? What gives?

I got the same issue. I emailed them to cancel the web access, requesting confirmation, but haven't heard anything. Has anyone got thru to them?
