According to my parents (I don't remember a goddamn bit of it) there was a full blown commencement ceremony for Kindergarten. With achievement certificates given out and everything.shit really? I was 6 in 87 and I don't remember anyone having a "graduation party" for anything besides HS and College
Perfect. Go, have fun, but why stay at home and complain online like the OP?
Don't you have better things to complain about than preschoolers?
In elementary school, I got a ribbon for some track&field event. It said "participation." I don't think I knew what that word meant, but I did know that it wasn't 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.The continuous praise of mediocrity absolutely kills me. This is why few people are truly excellent.
I'm not even sure what gift I would get a small human as a reward for consistently existing at a place they were not given a choice to be at
Adults make every excuse they can for a party or holiday. This just continues the trend.
- Some guy in another country died a few hundred years ago. Party.
- Some guy in this country was born a few hundred years ago. Party.
- Some guy did a thing somewhere a few decades ago. Party.
- Haven't had a party in awhile. Party.
.
From the OP "so we can safely decline". To me that sounds like you aren't attending the party.Yeah - I never said I was staying home. This isn't even close to a one or the other situation where those are the only two options.

Yes, you could do other activities but those are irrelevant to your rant.
Fast forward 5 years when his preschooler is graduating... lol. Gets pissed off when he gets rsvp back with a, Hahaha fuck no. Gets on internet to complain.
haha. So accurate.
welcome to the new America
and by new, I mean this has been happening for at least 10 years

Also according to my parents, my reaction to the entire process was one of disdain, since if everybody got a certificate, it couldn't be that big a deal.
Now, if parents want to have a party for graduating kindergarten, or a half birthday, or just to have a party, well, fuck it. It's their money.
I know, right? ()You could have been great, but now you're just average, because you parents coddled you so.
10 years? Since at least 1987.

We took our son out for lunch with Grandma for Kindergarten graduation. I couldn't imagine sending cards to my friends.
The OP is probably complaining from his desk at the office...
Also, staying home is awesome, you can read a book or watch a movie and you don't have to wear pants.
Kids these days are really spoiled. I didn't have a graduation party for high school or college. Why does everyone need to have a party for everything? Maybe I'll have a small event for $1 million net worth.
