Thanks, Pandaren. For a few moments there I thought Acanthus was going to get by with branding me a liar regarding my P4P 2.8 :|

That doesnt mean joe schmoe 55 post who claims it gives an EE a run for its money has one .

You're right, of course. Please accept my apology for doubting your superior knowledge.

SiSoftware Sandra and Intel CPUID have obviously lied to me, and in my stupidity I just went along with them, being an "Intel puke." Works for me.

Just call me "joe schmoe 55 post who claims..."

I cannot see Prescott not running faster than Northwood-C. The Prescott is launching at the peak of Northwood-C's performance, clearly leaving headroom for higher overclocks. Add in an extra large L1 and L2 series of caches and how could it be worse??

Well, you can see Ace's theory... the longer pipeline increases the penalty for a branch misprediction.

Aceshardware also accounts for the rumor that the L2 cache latency has increased. He also doesnt know how much longer the pipeline is, but for the assumption, he assumes its +50%.

Ace has been full of crap a few time which makes you think should he be called ace??? Plus his reviews suck AS WELL???

A lot of ASSumptions from everyone....I have heard of the increase in branch misprediction but some thorough analysis of the chip was done awile back and they seem to account for areas of much more improvement in performance then just the penalty of slightly increased branch mispredictions....I think ace is being a bit pessimistic and likely is putting too much stock in the early silicon for comparison...

But like I said he is not as good as he thinks!!!

I say everybody should shut-up until it is out....Speculation threads ran wikd befre the A64 reviews and see how much they turned out to be true...Some sites were speculating then the A64 was going to be a dud with the single channel memory controller and doesn't seem to have come true....

Sounds like the P4 reloaded. It took awhile to get something that was faster than a P3. Normal for Intel. The new socket will start to make a difference.

It's looking that way. Intel is really struggling to keep above the water and they are sinking fast.

porBleemo,

really? they're struggling to keep above water? that's why 4Q financials were stellar, right?

This is a canned message, right? I remember seeing you post this before in the review section. I think the responses were the same too. Hmmm.... Is there an AMDBot running?

Firingsquad had an Athlon 500 before it came to market. Performed like crap.

Anandtech had hyperthreading Xeons before it ever hit mainstream. Performed erratically.

Kokomo, maybe you should import some more of those prescott 2.8s you got that can beat the 3.2 northwoods... cuz the prescotts that intel is selling are getting pretty beat by the northwoods!!
