Boy! It's nothing related to the prison labor or child abuse.
The price for the eyeglasses is way too high in United States. For example, I'm from South Korea and I got my eyeglasses for $40. The frame is made in Japan and It's titanium. It's double compressed and it has a UV coating or something. I dropped by several places like Sears or Walmart to get my other eyeglasses. They quoted me $300 for the same specification.
Please don't get me wrong on this.
I prefer to see the competition and the way US government protects consumers by antitrust law or something is, I think, one of the best things I have ever seen. I just like to see more competition and sorta price war on the eyeglasses too.
If any of you has a concern about the labor abuse, you shouldn't buy Nike either. It makes its products from South-Asian countries. What I saw from newspaper was that workers there usually work for 18 hours a day, lots of abuse, and so on.
For some information, do a google search. Here is one I found.

As far as I know, production for the low value added products in US is gone. That's because US has different enconomic system than third world countries. By doing so, I think we all are benefited.
Just my 2Cents.
