Wait, didn't they say this morning that it's been 72 hours since Trump was initially diagnosed? Trump tweeted about it at 9:56 p.m. Thursday night. 36 hours ago. That means he was diagnosed Wednesday morning?

That's what everyone is concerned about. Either Conley is lying about the timeline, or Trump knowingly put people at risk. We're talking lawsuits... and if Trump didn't have the presidency as a shield, he'd be criminally liable.

If he knew he had it and still had contact with others, that's a pretty shitty thing to do, even for Trump. I'm not sure about criminal charges though, as that could be applied to the flu as well. You could even make a case for the common cold if the person you gave it to had other morbidities.

Most of those laws say "intentional or reckless." The "or reckless" is the real kicker which makes it a lot broader than poisoning Tylenol. It suggests that if you test positive and do not self-quarantine then you might be criminally liable.

The standard isn't intent though. As I said above, these laws apply to reckless conduct. Just knowing you have it and exposing yourself to others without taking precautions may well be enough for criminal liability. They need not prove you meant to get other people sick.

Yes, that is the question. However, I would point out that the messaging on that at the presser was vague. At one point, the doctor said it had been 72 hours, which implied early Wednesday. Then he said Trump was tested early Thursday but did not get the diagnosis until late Thursday. When the doctor said 72 hours, he may have either slipped and accidentally told the truth or he may just have gotten the number of hours wrong.
