Trump saying he felt good enough that he could have attended a rally on Saturday actually gives me reason for pause (and not just because Trump lies often). With COVID-19, that's usually a sign you're about to get a relapse, and it can hit hard.

In a matter of 48 hours? The timeline makes no sense. I thought the "feels better" stage before critical failure was after 1-2 weeks. And with quite serious complications prior.

The sky looks blue because the other parts of the spectrum are filtered out. Isn't there a part of the visible spectrum that if shown while the others are not will appear to a person with normal vision as blue? That's blue! Blue light is shorter wave length visible light. It's not as short as violet, IIRC, which is longer than ultra violet which is EMR whose wavelength is too short to be perceived by the human eye.

Yet red is perceived a warm/hot color and blue a cold color. Like on a water tap. Except it's the opposite as blue light is hotter than red by far.

THIS is going to get sickening. The administration expects Trump to be released soon AND they are launching the new theme... TRUMP STRONG - AMERCA STRONG. Something like that. Point of the slogan being Donald Trump is strong like America is strong and even a virus was no match for Donald Trump. I don’t know... but their twisting this to compare Trump winning out against the virus as America winning out against the virus. Some perverted power comparison only Donald Trump could think of. “IF” Trump gets better and “if” Trump gets to go back to the White House, you would think they would have some humility with realizing how serious this was and how close Donald Trump came to succumbing to the Covid. But no... this president and this administration will thumb their nose at the seriousness of Covid claiming that IT’S NOT SO BAD. And just forget about the 200,000 plus deaths. If Donald Trump survives Covid and leaves the hospital, Trump deserves to trip on the hospital steps and break his neck.

In the video The Typhoid Toddler released before he left his room to have his parade, he said he’s been meeting soldiers and first responders at the hospital. Is he really mingling with people? Does anyone there know what fucking quarantine means?

Well there's one thing for sure about Trump, he's supremely enjoying all the attention he's getting over there. I suspect it's almost like how his nannies fussed over him as a child back in the day.

And that "hey look I'm still alive" tour he took riding around outside the hospital property is just another childish thing a spoiled brat would want to do in order to show off to his fans.

Worst "president" ever. Thing is the more he exposes his awful personality defects that makes him more repulsive than before, the more his cult following rallies around him in his defense.

A real life real time social phenomenon at play, where a spoiled brat that constantly lies, blames others for his delinquency and insults his enemies with lame name calling is something to be admired and respected about him. Holy holes in the head, it is a sight to behold.

IMHO this latest stunt of riding around WR so Trump-tards can throw adornment on him will cost him votes,
many have suffered either medically from COVID or financially and this dip-shit can't be serious enough to
skip fan worship for 3-4 whole days?. This, plus the debate he turned into a shit-show is going to come at a cost.

Agreed. How many people will have either gotten sick themselves, or know someone who has.

He's getting bombarded with experimental treatments, special considerations, sitting in an opulent hospital room with a platoon of physicians. Then he hops in his armored tank to do a drive-by outside to a bunch of idiots not protecting themselves properly, because of his bullshit, from the virus this asshole caught and is ignorantly spreading.

Hopefully this is just a flight of fancy. Trump's fanatics would undoubtedly start to see getting the virus as a sign of pride. They would go out and spread it intentionally, post a picture of themselves on social media from their beds, and come up with a suitable hashtag. The QAnon population would see a 3% decline.

You are all forgetting just how good Trumps genes are, I mean really really really really really amazingly good! He had an uncle who played Football for a community college,

Lebron James could only dream to have genes as superior as Mr. Trumps. Of course he's going to whoop the China Flu's ass, and he'll do it easy. And he'll come back to the cheering of all his supporters. Many will have changed their "this is a hoax" stance to "This isn't serious, our glorious leader ate China Flu for breakfast, along with 5 Egg McMuffins and 3 hash brown patties.

You got me wondering why that is - why do we think of blue as cold, when blue light is actually more energetic than red light?

So I googled "why do we percieve blue as cold"...and the first hit was a 20-years-old thread from this site. Which didn't actually tell me anything useful.

Thanks for this! I need to pick one up to add to my set. My historic NK nuclear disarmament summit coin was looking lonely in the case.

I'm going to go with a WAG that it's sunlight colors, seasonality, and our animal hindbrain.

I was wondering, is it somehow precisely _because_ blue light has more energy? Are cold things, like ice, seen as blue because they reflect those high-energy wavelengths? If they absorbed blue light and reflected lower-energy red, thus appearing red, they wouldn't continue to be cold for very long.

I don't know what to tell you man, other than you actually aren't reading the content and understanding what it is telling you, lol. This topic, specifically, really isn't about the color spectrum because as it pertains to animals (your example), there is no actual blue, and as to the sky, it isn't simply about refraction and light scattering that creates what can sometimes be called "blue." (Again, it's one of the few, maybe the only "things" in the world that you actually have to be coached into assigning it a color. Think about that)

Ignore your color blindness for a moment, it's not that relevant to this specific problem (yes, I'm well aware of color blindness and how it works--dad was severely R-B color blind, but also had superhuman contrast abilities, especially at night. He also learned to just assign the slightly ~greyish tints that he saw and were informed as "green," to be green, and the somewhat different ~grey tints that he were told were "red," to red.)
Well, guess I should study up on it. I'm looking at my royal blue bath robe. Now, I have some trouble with purple at times, i.e. there are colors that aren't to me much different than what I perceive as blue, that other people with normal vision and fairly typical color differentiation training would not call blue. I can often make a pretty confident identification for blue. Of course, nobody could ID any color as anything without some socialization, some coaching from other humans. It's the reason you call a nose a nose.

I'm real good with red. But I don't think it looks the same to me as normal people, based on my experience in their presence when hearing them speak about red objects, etc. I am pretty good with yellow, however many times what I perceive as yellow is called green by others and I'm truly mystified. I have bought things to wear on my bicycle that I thought were just plain bright yellow and find out later that others see green. Now, that smiley looks yellow to me, but if you told me it's green, I'm OK, looks yellow to me, but guess it's some shade of green. No lie.

Pigmentation In Some Butterfly Wings Created By Nanostructures

https://news.berkeley.edu/2020/04/08/what-do-soap-bubbles-and-butterflies-have-in-common/

I think there may be a "Science Friday" or other PBS broadcast on this subject out there.
That's funny. I once had a work study job at UC Berkeley in the Department of Entomology. Long time ago. My job was dealing with specimens collected by I don't know who in the department, IIRC perhaps in a trip to Mexico. I mounted them, and likely labeled them. I'd had experience doing that by virtue of a friendship and a period of belonging to the Southern California Entomological Association (when I was a teenager), who would meet in downtown L.A. True story. Yeah, we had buckeyes around Los Angeles. Not the most common species, but far from rare. Kinda in between.
