Apparently over the last few days, Donald Trump found god. Whitehouse chief of staff on Fox news says Trump wants released from the hospital so he can "return to providing religious and moral leadership for America". I'm like WTF???

My night time average is 94%, I wouldn't call 93% low, not until it stays below 90%. I doubt my doctor would be concerned, that's kind of a nothing-burger.
If i had a non copd patient with an oxygen saturation level of 93% I'd definitely be sticking them on a couple of litres of nasal O2. It wouldn't be something to be massively concerned about but its not a nothing burger.
94% is a little bit on the low side if there's no other reasons. Again its not something to worry about but it is below where we'd expect if there's no known cause.

People with chronic lung disease make physiologic compensations for hypoxia and hypercapnia over time. Still, 93% isn't that bad. But assuming he doesn't have reason to have hypoxia chronically (which he very well may given his body habitus), it's more that it's a signal of a problem interfering with respiration (e.g. pneumonia) that can get much worse.

Returning to providing moral leadership?

Is this a different Donald Trump?

I'm guessing Trump's oxygen level dropped much lower than the claimed 93%, which 93% isn't that bad. If oxygen level was the reason to ship Trump off to the hospital, his oxygen level would have had to drop into the mid to lower 80's. But.... we'll never know because everything from the Whitehouse is either lies or twisted into a rosy outlook. For all we know, Trump could have died over the weekend and the administration is not telling us.

Remember the movie Dave?

I wonder about that myself, as I have one of those finger-pusometer/oxymeter things because I wonder if I have apnoea.

I still don't know whether the lowish numbers it sometimes reports when I get up indicate apneoa, or if it's just that it's a cheap bit of Chinese-made crap bought off of ebay that doesn't work.

Just as so many of us here derided Trump's decision to have a little parade while he's contagious with a possibly deadly disease, so did members of the Secret Service. Good for them. They take it all more seriously then he does, despite his protestations that "I get it."

After the parade "members of the Secret Service voiced escalating concern at what many of the agency's personnel have determined is total disregard for their well-being amid a deadly and highly contagious pandemic.

'That should never have happened,' one current Secret Service agent who works on the presidential and first family detail said after Trump's drive-by, adding that those agents who went along for the ride would now be required to quarantine."

I'm still curious why this parade wasn't preceded by tossing tear gas into the angry mob hanging outside the hospital?

But if you really heat metal, it eventually glows blue and even white.

You could argue, I guess, that within the range of temperatures most human beings have encountered for most of history, 'red' heat has been the hottest it gets, because we don't usually manage to get things to white heat.

The blue tint of ice, as I said before, is presumably because it reflects blue light. And that might be the point, as if it absorbed blue light - more energetic than red - it would heat up and not remain ice very long.

ethanol burns blue. I think methanol burns green. I forget what burns yellow (or if that exists?) It's how fireworks get their colors!

Also, clean natural gas burns blue; it's carbon-based impurities that will turn the flame red.

Why are we talking about colors in this thread? I mean, its better than the previous derailments...

Crazy stuff about that as well. Ice is blue? It always looks clear to me, unless its ice from the windshield wiper fluid. I won't comment on icebergs, frankly I've never seen one up close. A snowy field has a "blue hue"? I look at piles of that crap all winter long, snow is white guys. If winter has a hue, its grey not blue.

also, polar bears aren't white. They are transparent. (meaning, their hair follicles are actually transparent, which allows light to enter each follicle in all directions, bounce around inside, and generate micro-whatevers of heat that, when aggregated to all the bear's hair, creates a nice blanket of warmth.

Oh, we're talking about colors because we want Texashiker to feel comfortable and at home. (I think)

Glaciers emit the most amazing blue you've ever seen.

Snow in the summer gets pink.

interesting thing I read was the Presidents cars are typically sealed for chemical attack. All the air is filtered and recirculated. Are the filters adequate to remove Covid.

Most luxury vehicles have a cabin air filter. Not sure if it's hepa, but would definitely catch particles... possiblity of covid. The problem though is it requires the fan to be running to circulate the air and it's not as efficient as an airplane system where the cabin is pressurized and recirculates every ~5 minutes.

Cabin air filter sealed for Chemical Warfare?

I don’t think so.

the question is are those filters made or good enough to filter Covid because if not the air is circulated within the SUV

No. I'm saying most of those have cabin air filters that could filter out covid if they had enough circulation, but that's with the assumption the fan was circulating enough air. My point is that most people wouldn't want that much air circulation in a small cab to be truly effective.

I wasn't trying to suggest I know anything about the specific systems the presidential auto fleet has.... As for sealed for chemical warfare, I don't know what those systems are like either.

I feel like the doctors are worried about what Trump will do once he leaves the hospital. Like they are forcing him to get as much rest as possible because his lifestyle is the antithesis of what his body needs.

anyone want to set the odds on Trump being released back the to the WH tomorrow, like his doctor said?
I think his physicians are in a long persistent battle to convince him to stay longer. He's an adolescent who wants to go home.
The physicians know that if he rushes out of there, there's a really good chance he'll be back and sick as hell. he has a complete office there I don't see a downside to sitting around there and doing his usual tweeting and nothing.

His actions can definitely be described as wreckless and stubborn..... It's actually pretty typical of a good portion of the country too. I see many of his stereotypical supporters in my community that basically would make the same foolish decisions. Just think about how many people refuse to wear masks in public and believe that wearing a mask is some attempt at the government controlling them? The oddity here is many people say, "We're not sheep..." Yet, they're so ill-informed on reality that they're more like lemmings.

What? his "lifestyle" consists of him watching tv, tweeting, eating, meandering around the WH, and the weekly golfing which requires very little activity when you're riding in a cart. Talking at his rallies aren't stressful except to the listeners.

Don't we just use the fact that elements generally emit specific colors when burned to create the colors in things like fireworks? For example, Sodium is yellow and Potassium is red-ish.

I can totally see Trump surviving this, then touting that he is now Immune, claiming that Biden isn't, and not strong enough to beat it if he gets it.

Biden actually staying as President was never the plan. #Kamala2021
