Ooooo! If accurate, I LOVE it . . . so long as it doesn't motivate more fundies to come out and vote.

IIRC Senators can proxy vote on committee, if the committee in question rules allow it, but you still need a quorum. Also the Senate as a whole does not allow proxy votes and McConnell railed against the House allowing them.

I have made 2 reports tonight.
And they have both been summarily rejected. Don't make any more or you will be in danger of being infracted. You could also be infracted for trolling and derailing this thread. Don't try our patience here. Give up while you're still behind.

One further point of order. When you see a bolded, signed message from a moderator, you are NOT to respond to it in open forum. There is only one legitimate venue for that, Moderator Discussions.

As you said yourself, you have a history here. When confronted with facts contrary to the way you wanted things to be, you chose to reject the entire physical universe instead of adjusting your imagination. You pulled crap out of your ass about different ways of knowing and explicitly rejected empiricism. Therefore, based on your conduct, I choose not to bother with your silly, toddler-like, emotional tantrums.

Words. Big Words. Surrounded by punctuation.

I’m seeing the hashtag #RBGsrevenge on Twitter. “Oh, you thought you could have your little nomination party before I was even buried huh?”

This wouldn’t have been an issue had they waited.
This is just stupid. RBG doesn’t own the fucking seat. She has no say on who occupies it.

Screw her dying wish. I’m sure the left wouldn’t have given a damn if Scalia wished his seat wasn’t filled.

Something I've wondered about before - why do conservatives love the word 'narrative' so much? I;ve noticed that right-wing hosts on the radio here _love_ the word. One of them once used it three times in one sentence. Search reveals Retro Rob here has used the word seven times, just today. What does it mean that they like that word so much? As I understand it it actually began on the liberal-left, coming out of the pretentious pomo university courses many of them took. But then the right picked it up and have used it obsessively ever since.

When you need to recast reality as something subjective and possibly conspiratorial against you to justify questionable opinions and political arguments I guess you've got to call it something.

Calling statements and arguments you disagree with a "narrative" is a rhetorical way of dismissing them in their entirety without having to counter them with facts or logic.

Of course, "That's just my . . . narrative . . . man."

Accuse "others" of what you are doing. All the new catch phrases are literally thing conservatives have always engaged. Virtue signaling, woke, narrative, pick one....you'll see if exercised by conservatives since forever.

She can attend the hearings via zoom, as did James Comey.

Mitch has refused to allow remote hearings. It would require Mitch going back on Mitch...which obviously isn't out of the question.

But there is essentially no way that any of those people can ethically and rationally be gathered together inside like that within the next 2 weeks. (not that I'd put it past them, of course)

I'm just stating the rules as I understand them. No quorum, no hearing if the Dems don't want to play ball.
Well they’re running the risks of looking extremely radical and will cost themselves votes.

We will see. And if they DO attend and attack a successful woman, they’ll surely lose their feminists voting bloc.

Lol - I used to be anti-Trump. Did not vote for him in 2016. Did not vote for Hilary either.

The fact is I’ve simply learned to accept facts and reject the fictitious and overwhelming false anti Trump media coverage.

I’m not ashamed of separating truth from narrative. You shouldn’t be either.

It's weird that you haven't even given a single counter example yet, to support all of your claims of "open thinking" and superior non-groupthink intellect. All the while, your long history here stands as an example that currently rejects what you now claim.

It's also weird that you blame the media for simply reporting what Trump says. That is not the media's fault that Trump is telling everyone, very loudly, exactly what he is. But this is an old, obvious, and still relevant explanation to what is going on. It's tiring to have to present it to yet another "Who, me? What's been going on the last 4 years guys? someone tell me and do it honestly, because I just don't see it!"

Politicians are hypocrites and always have been.

What else is new?

I'm going to go out on a limb and inform you that you don't really know anything about feminism. --especially when you seem to believe that criticizing one of the most anti-female women out there, in a position of power to make life incalculably worse for women, is somehow going to enrage feminists.

...but you keep going with that line, sparky. It seems that you are more than willing to invent ideologies behind already-defined demographics and political philosophies, for the sole purpose of you arguing against them and then telling us how open minded you are.

both sides!

This is weak. It hasn't spoken to any kind of real truth in the decades since, especially Newt Gingrich, so you need to find a new line of apathy-defense for the terrible shit decisions that you have made over the last 30 years.

You think feminists will stop voting D because of doubting the impartial abilities of a religious fundie nutter? Guess time will tell lol

Like I said. If they want to attack this woman, particularly one whose made it this far with 7 children, that’s on them.

I think it is just Fashion/Trend. It just is used by an ideological group. I would suggest that "Talking Points" has basically the same meaning, just used by another ideological group.

On a lighter note, what I have lesrned from the history of this country is that the burst of greatness this country experienced under Roosevelt and the back-sliding Conservative reaction to it in all the years since, and which I would call an onslaught of mass psychosis manifesting full blown in Donald Trump, a mind virus of fear and loathing, has at last reached apogee and is at last starting to break. And the irony is that it is a other terrible viral scourge that will help with its collapse.

The tin horned god-man-pretender behind the curtain In the corner has fallen flat on his face, his tiny hands slipping from the controls as he tripped over his own enormous clown feet. Time for the mass psychosis to die and love of others reawaken. Make it so.
