Yes, we should do better. I blame it in part on our education system, the CDC and WHO.

Everything the CDC says is "wash your hands and cover your cough. Besides that no real public health advice comes from them.

I understand how this may work for you, if you actually don't pay attention to anything, and just invent false narratives like the rest of your clan.

You can drill it down to its most simplistic terms. They could have taken it seriously. They could have messaged consistently that it was serious. They could have impressed upon people support for taking steps recommended by health professionals to minimize spread. Trump didn’t have to push for things to reopen in April. He didn’t have to say it would be gone in no time. They did none of that. Nothing. And that’s just looking at their words.

Even people from the CDC and WHO downloaded the severity. Even to this day the WHO does not want COVID classified as airborne.

If you go to the CDC page, it cites WHO - https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/non-us-settings/overview/index.html

Current WHO guidance for healthcare workers .......

It’s honestly hard to think of a more incompetent response to COVID in the entire developed world. He failed in every way it is possible to fail.

As for things Trump could have done better let’s go with the easy one - he could have not directly undermined public health measures like the closure of bars and restaurants.

We have had similar debates over the years, and as you have asked me in the past, I now ask you, be specific. Please provide exact examples.

Does Trump have the authority to tell local businesses to close?

Which States? I do understand the bidding war, but China basically horded masks. We had to have ventilators made at car manufacturers (IIRC).

So it was a challenge.
Really, have you been in a coma since February or March? We had governors receiving clandestine shipments of PPE, and storing it under guard by state police in undisclosed locations to keep the fucking feds (Trump's feds) from confiscating it.

Without using hindsight, what exactly has the Trump administration done that you disagree with?

We can go back decades, and to Democrat presidents if you want who signed free trade agreements that allowed companies like 3M to move their manufacturing offshore.

No one is innocent here. From Bill Clinton allowing China to join the world trade organization, to the senate ratifying free trade agreements that allowed drug companies to move offshore, to Nixon restoring relations with China, to Biden saying we need a strong China....... our government gave away our ability to respond to stuff like covid.

I feel Trump has done everything in his power to respond to covid, but it is never enough.
Lying about the virus "magically going away in April". When he said that I knew it wasn't true.

Promoting bullshit quick cures HCQ, bleach/disinfectant. Scientists said from the beginning no evidence HCQ is effective at treating COVID and said it could cause harm

Forcing the CDC to alter reports to fit a political agenda

Not fully utilizing the DPA

Once it was known masks are effective at mitigating the spread, mocking mask wearing making it a political statement.

Pushing to reopen the economy when it wasn't safe. He wanted to reopen at Easter

Doctor shopping for Abbot so he would have someone to push his political agenda. Abbot is not an epidemiologist

Throwing away Obama's pandemic response plan.

Just for starters.

So what? You asked what the admin could have done differently. That’s what they could have done. It’s what they should have done. It’s what we in Canada did. Even our incredibly conservative premier of Ontario has been nothing but consistent in his messaging on COVID and how serious it is.

And the CDC? Everything the CDC has said that the admin didn’t like they were savaged by trump and the right. Pressured to change things. Make contrary statements. Kind of hard to take the argument of “the CDC who the admin has forced to say things they like said things the admin liked”.
You wanted an answer. That’s the answer.

Trump in numerous public statements that anyone can access argued against closing businesses. He could have not done that.

See how easy this is?

That medical press conference was tough to watch.

He is not on oxygen NOW. Does that mean you pulled the oxygen during this time and you are going to hook him back up?

He has been fever free for 24 hours. Wait, he had a fever yesterday.

He is getting daily ultrasounds and daily lab work. He has been in there less than a day.

What was his fever. I don't want to get into specifics. Why not?

What is today, Saturday. Umm, Thursday not oxygen, he is not on oxygen today and yesterday while we were all here he was not on oxygen. DUDE, that means he was getting supplemental oxygen on Friday!!!!!!!!!

Have you looked at per capita numbers?

That tells the true story.
The question is 'have you looked at the per-capita numbers.

The number of cases ON A PER-CAPITA BASES, 13 of the top 15 states are red states, filled with ignorant people, that think a mask, social distancing is a plot or hoax.

The COVID pandemic has clearly brought to light a more dangerous pandemic... stupid people.

lol we have 328 million people. Being 12th and 10th respectively is ok.

.. and what “sources” show different numbers?

So now we're down to "ok".

I already did a per pop commentary why this also was a disaster.

Ohh. Who am I thinking of then? Ohh well, maybe he regularly saw a physician?

lol, you're thinking of Ben Carson--somehow a brain surgeon that hasn't practiced in a decade or two, believes the pyramids were storage silos for grain, regularly takes naps while behind a podium on stage, and is somehow Secretary of the HUD (Actually, I think Carson might be the longest-serving Trump appointee in the entire administration...probably because he naps all the time, spends his department budget on his and his wife's office furniture, and generally never says anything)

What are they ultrasounding? Echocardiogram?

Thought they need CT scans to check for lung damage...which they also would not answer if he had.

Please be specific and exact, you have provided one microscopic example of something you disagree with Trump on.

Got anything else?

I would also like to know how you feel about how the past 40+ years of free trade agreements impacted our ability to respond to covid. Presidents Regan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama.... did more to hamper our response ability to covid-19 that anything Trump could have ever done. Then there are the senators who ratified those free trade agreements that allowed companies like 3M to move to China.

@Retro Rob Zinfamous is likely a very high IQ person. He is like a fucking scientist or something.
High IQ people typically want to educate others likely because they are tired of hearing our dumb bullshit (notice how I said our).
Learn from him, you don’t have to agree. You are free to use feelings because those are exclusively yours and cannot be challenged.

Remember intellegence is a compounding type thing. Zinfamous is probably 16 times smarter than you and I combined. Particularly regarding maths and problem solving.
Learn from the guy who used to work for me.

no no no; I'm an "idiot." Please don't pretend I am smarter than I am (and know that I am.)

...I am surrounded by vastly smarter people on any given day, however, and that matters.

None of those people are responsible for Trump’s incompetence.

The most normal Trump WH thing to happen is an entirely different story leaking almost immediately after the official bullshit is poorly received.

It's to the point where you wonder if the administration might pull a Weekend at Bernie's and pretend Trump was still alive even if he died.

The kicker: if Trump caught the virus four or five days before he showed symptoms, he's on the cusp of facing the worst of it (if he's not there already). In the next few days, maybe sooner, we'll find out how bad it really is.

Words and, especially, medical classifications have the same definitions that they have always had, and for very good reasons. There is a reason that Covid-19 is not classified as "airborne" because that actually means something. It really doesn't matter that you don't know, don't care, and clearly will give zero dicks about caring to learn what that means, but what you want it to be has absolutely no baring, and never will, on what it is.

Do you understand that?

This statement ties back to my earlier post about a low IQ guy who worked for me. He claimed if he was any stupider he would be retarded.
You like him know there are others around you who are smarter. Goal is to learn from them not say how stupid and shitty they are.

Hey, at least your almost-retarded employee had more self-awareness, and potential intelligence that Tugger, here.

Self-awareness, and then curiosity, are key.

Trump's twitter account has been silent for 13 hours. No way in hell he would not be twittering if he was feeling even half as good as they want people to believe. Trump's twitter addiction is a huge indication of just how "well" he is doing.
