Trump won't care about impeachment if he gets re-elected. You guys will need to get out and vote if you want this to impact him in any way.

The way we get there is to establish a tone of righteous moral indignation.

So his re-election seems like a near impossibility but only one person can beat him? Haha.

Trump played the immigration card as hard as it could be played in 2018 and got annihilated.
One out of the few running, yes. It simply doesn't look like the majority of the electorate is ready to go as far left as Bernie and Warren want to take us. Everyone else is at this point just hanging on in the hope of an asteroid strike or convenient heart attack.
The midterms don't really matter as they almost always go contrary to the sitting president. Every prediction I saw said the dems would sweep the house, and they did.

Well people don't vote based on issues for the most part so I don't think that's particularly relevant. I mean the average platform Republicans run on is WAAAAAAAY to the right of what Americans want and they still win pretty often. The platform of the median Republican is certainly much further from the American political center than anything Warren or Bernie are running on.

The midterms matter quite a bit. While they do tend to go contrary to the sitting president the margin in 2018 was absolutely colossal. Even more important is that midterms often go against the president because turnout among the sitting president's party is often low. In this case it was very high but the Republicans were still crushed.

We'd have voted Trump out given the chance.

Trump and his supporters will never ever accept the reality that he got impeached because he and by way of encouraging and enabling his malfeasance, his supporters brought it on himself/themselves.

They and he did this to themselves and now refuse to accept the dire inevitable consequences of their actions. Pissing on the Constitution and the flag that represents it is all the rage with the Repubs it seems.

They want to set in place the notion that crime does pay after all, except if a Democrat does it of course. The only point of contention being a nebulously wide and high level of tolerance of Trump's crimes that the Repubs want to normalize and exploit into the body politic of which the Dems are rightfully refusing to go along with.

Maybe, it really depends on who writes the history.
What will be telling is if he gets reelected. While that seems like a near impossibility at this point, so did his first win. To me Biden seems like the only one who could beat Trump, as I don't think a majority of americans are on the Robin Hood band wagon yet. Immigration is also a hot button that seems to be influencing elections in most of the first world, and that could play well for Trump.

The predictive models that actually suggested Trump would win 2016 are not based on the actual candidate but based on party / whether the current US situation suggests it will be a "change" election. The models would have predicted any Republican to win 2016. Those models incorporate scandal, and that is a negative factor. Impeachment, of course, being a pretty major player in the way of scandal. Has Trump changed the rules of how the public votes? I don't actually think so. The models which don't include polls and subjective ideas predicted Trump would win. I feel highly likely they'll be accurate in 2020. The most compelling predictor in Trump's favor is the economy, although that obviously can change over the next 11 months. Without impeachment and economy holding stable, I believe Trump would win. Who the candidates end up being is probably not all that important unless a significant third party candidate emerges or the Dem candidate has to contend with scandal themselves. Even though it's a manufactured one, the noise Republicans are raising against Biden might have an influence. Principally, we have to realize that even the most uninformed posters on this board are far more attentive to actual political happenings than a typical American. Plenty of people are going to hear Trump was impeached and think negatively of him without any awareness of arguments for or against.
