I’m starting to come around to the idea that Democrats should not send the articles over to the Senate for trial unless they actually agree to call fact witnesses and request documents from the WH/OMB.

GOP and Trump are banking on acquittal in the Senate, which is 99.9% assured, so why give them the opportunity to claim TOTAL EXONERATION?? Let the House impeachment stand alone without a trial and send it to the voters in November. Sure, the Republicans will claim that the Dems are pulling a political stunt, but that would also mean that Democrats weren’t serious about removing Trump from office and so it still negates their talking points.

Dems should demand a secret ballot for the Senate trial along with the rest of the fixins if they going to go the "impeached but never aquitted" route.

Would be a bit of a shit move after all the hooplah over protecting our elections, but with Mitch and Graham providing aircover by saying the quiet stuff out loud they have a reasonable case for it.

Might even keep the Pres tied up enough that he spends the remainder of his presidency tweeting rather than selling the public out.

That would also allow the Democratic senators running for the presidential nomination to campaign instead of being stuck in the impeachment trial.

That is incorrect. He HAS been impeached (charged with two crimes). That is done in the House and is the equivalent of being charged/indicted. The Trial is in the Senate. If Convicted there, he is removed from office.
