Nowhere in there did I see where he ordered anyone to shoot anyone. The military cannot do law enforcement as it is against the law. They are there for support of the border patrol only.
That being said, If someone is cornered and being pelted with rocks they do have a right to defend themselves, a rock is considered a deadly weapon when used as such. I don't think women and children are going to be throwing rocks.

Technically speaking, they're putting up a temporary wire barrier "for show" at best since the razor wire is not being staked and tied off. Really easy to penetrate on its own if left that way. As easy as throwing a plank or tree branch to get over it. It’s a reference to a semi farsical group almost cult that is waiting for the Gun Jesus to arrive or something similar. They have a Christian like service where the guns are worshipped.

I think his point is if there are dozens of persons with slings and hundreds of rock throwers that can be dangerous. I’d have to agree.
Now if we make a fantasy scenario where 4 people from the military are overrun by 100+ rock throwers and a few more with real legitimate slings and there is no possibility of escape or back up and the crowd is out to kill someone. Then of course the Military should be able to fire, we all can agree on that.
However that is not a scenario that is likely to occur ever.
Either way, his ramping up the hate and fear rhetoric by implying that the USA should resort to wholesale murder by firing rifles into a crowd to solve an immigration problem makes him look as bad as any ruthless power hungry dictator that ever existed on this here earth of ours.
