Heh, the way Trump is hyping the wholesale invasion hysteria along our southern border by murderers, rapists and terrorist middle easterners and what needs to be done to stifle the hordes from crossing over, those pics aren't that far removed from the results Trump's fake alarmist rhetoric would end up looking like.

Needs moar Taj grenades.

Dude, Why do you keep making stuff up. Nobody even came close to suggesting that. I think you just want to be a victim...

Anyone trying to repeal the 14th amendment, would be a supporter of slavery.

Well you are looking to repeal one of the central parts of it, universal birthright citizenship.

I was accused of being a supporter of slavery, which my stance on the 14th amendment has nothing to do with.

Yes, I would like it redefined to something more reasonable in my opinion. Where Illegal actions are not rewarded.

No, I am not a victim at all.

Good, then we have established you are not victimized by babies born in this country being citizens from birth regardless of the status of their parents. So what's the big deal that would require changing the Constitution?

You obviously have not the slightest clue how the 14th came to be.

It isn't a binary question.

Oh don't be silly. You obviously are just wanting to turn this into some racist thing so you can play your racist card....

I'm done playing.

Then tell us. Exactly what was the purpose and intent behind the 14th amendment to the Constitution of the United States?

Tell us, or admit your ignorance.

Oh bullshit, the only reason to change this would be if in some way were negatively harmed by the status quo. So far there hasn't been any evidence put forward that we are. By your own admission it doesn't impact you either way. You're just deciding that some babies are less worthy of being citizens because of their parents than other babies.

Anyone want to bet that the ‘caravan’ suddenly stops being a big issue now that the election is over?

No, the reasoning is nobody should be rewarded for an illegal action.

Nobody.

The 14th amendment predates restrictionist immigration policies. We shouldn’t change the constitution to fit with later laws, we should make sure later laws comport with the intent of the constitution.

What crime did the newly born citizen commit that is so egregious that the child should be stripped of its citizenship?

If I’m not mistaken his argument is that the child should be punished by stripping it if it’s citizenship for the actions of their parents so that two decades after the fact the child can’t apply to have its parents immigrate to the US.

The 14th amendment was a change to the constitution to reflect the changing times post slavery. The original intent was not to reward illegal behavior. We need to update the amendment to reflect the changing times of the abuse by illegal activities being rewarded by the granting of citizenship.

The intent was to grant citizenship to everyone born in the US, regardless of other circumstances. That much is totally obvious.

The child didn't do anything. His parent(s) however broke the law by entering the country illegally.

The child shouldn't be stripped of anything, citizenship should not be given for illegal actions.

I disagree.

There was no such thing as illegal aliens at the time. We need an update. That is what is totally obvious.

The child has not committed an illegal act. You are punishing the child for the parent's actions.
