I gave him credit for what I agree with, but the majority of his speech has been empty rhetoric and regurgitation of his previously failed promises.

Yeah all those failed promises.

It's actually surprising he completed that many considering the day after he was elected, the Republicans turned their strategy to "anything he is for, we're against at all costs."

The sad thing is that people said the same thing about previous generations of immigrants. Anyways, now the country has become so diverse that I'm afraid that it's the generations that have ancestors who have been here for some time that are not integrating with American society as it is now.

Things might have been said about previous generations of immigrants, but the socio-political environment is about as far from that of previous generations as it could be. With far-reaching government programs, political-correctness, litigation, mass-media, etc... you can't reasonably assume that similarities with the past will be repeated today with the same results.

No, he actually said exactly the opposite. That he would work with Republicans in supporting legislation sponsored by them to enforce the law and protect our borders. They all the GOP-ers stood up.

They still won't do anything though. So whatever.. you people would sorely miss all the illegal $20/day-salaried Mexicans picking your fruits and veggies keeping our food costs down if they were all kicked out. Politicians have figured that out at least.

So basically it's investing in the future vs. cutting everything. Hmm... well, how about we do a bit of both? Can we close corporate tax loopholes and cut the billions we spend on building and maintaining enormous bombs designed to kill people AND invest in higher education and new scientific and technological breakthroughs?

Positives:
There were some stuff I agreed with. (Lowering costs of businesses, getting rid of useless regulation, lowering corporate taxes and getting rid of loopholes).

Also, streamlining the federal government sounds like a good place to start.

Good style and good fluff (as always the case for Obama)

Negatives
Not nearly enough about reducing the deficit though.
Investing in the future = spending more money we don't have
He loses points with me for wanting to increase personal income tax rates.
