Grade: F

Worst State of the Union I have ever heard. Lifeless, cartoon like, and Obama has obviously given up.

My favorite bit by far was the joke about the pat down. Its wonderful to hear that everyone knows the TSA is a big fat joke. Here's a tip, if every single person in washington is laughing at you, maybe you actually are a useless government agency

BTW - How come people who fly private planes don't have to be screened?

Positives:
There were some stuff I agreed with. (Lowering costs of businesses, getting rid of useless regulation, lowering corporate taxes and getting rid of loopholes).

Also, streamlining the federal government sounds like a good place to start.

Good style and good fluff (as always the case for Obama)

Negatives
Not nearly enough about reducing the deficit though.
Investing in the future = spending more money we don't have
He loses points with me for wanting to increase personal income tax rates.

Overall grade: C
I agree with most of this assessment, but I missed the part about increasing personal income tax (unless you're talking about the line about getting rid of the "tax breaks for the wealthy."

And I can't agree that investment for the future is always a bad thing when you are struggling. The typical reason why anyone struggles is because they screwed themselves in the past. (Cool, a payday loan at 80% apr will totally solve my immediate lack of money issue! or Man, this rent is getting high. I know, I'll quit college and work as a part-time bartender!)

If we're rating, I give it a B-

.. you people would sorely miss all the illegal $20/day-salaried Mexicans picking your fruits and veggies keeping our food costs down if they were all kicked out. Politicians have figured that out at least.

No, I wouldn't. All politicians have figured out is how to avoid the issue.

Holy crap I accidentally left the tv on fox after the speech, and holy crap, are they for real? And who is that wet behind the ears douche?

Was it something along the lines of total ignorance of what Keynesian economics is?

This whole mess started with Bush jr spending like a drunken frat man-child. Pretty much in violation of what Keynesian economics stands for.

Yeah, my increasing the personal income tax point was about the "tax breaks for the wealthy". But what do you mean by tax breaks? If you mean loopholes, then fine, close them. But if you're referring to not increasing tax rates as a "tax break" then I have to part with you there.

I think we already take too much money out of the private sector. Many people in this forum would disagree with that, but thats my opinion on that matter.

Investment in the future is fine, but I want it to come from the private sector, not government. Its not coming from it now, and we can argue about why that is, but thats a whole nother thread in itself.

So you're saying that as long as the people doing these menial tasks are Americans making at least the federal minimum wage of $7.25/hour, forcing farm-owners to pass that huge increase in cost to us consumers, it would be good for our country?

Wet? Ryan's been in congress since he's 26 years old or 14 years! More experience than O.

Was it just me? But during the entire address, Boner looked bored and acted like he needed a stiff drink.
