All spending bills have to be passed in the House. I think the republicans will just be made to look like obstructionists and the problem if they try to block anything. However, I say just call the president's bluff and refuse to pass any spending bills without a real budget. I say go over the fiscal cliff and make the idiot deomcrats be forced to make real cuts. There is just so much money to spend and we have to come to grips with reality.

I think this is a great move.

Not only does it show that this country is above the long argument we have just went through, but Having some people of the opposite party (or wanting) them in some post and/or for advice to hear the other side of the coin, is a great idea to come up with better laws/plans/fixes.

I for one applaud Obama for this move. And I applaud Romney for accepting the invitation to meet.

Every time the dumb democrats and the Feds print more phoney money, it costs more for Gas and Food. So whether we kick the can down the road or cut spending now it will all have the same effect in the end. Inflation will just kill us all. Either way we are gong over a fiscal cliff.

I am hoping he doesn't especially after winning his second term with an Electoral landslide. Now it is time for me and my fellow progressives to put President Obama's feet to the fire so he actually governs in a Progressive manor. I think that's going to be a BIG job.

Educate yourself on what an electoral Landslide is.

progressives are going to destroy this country, they need to be kicked out or kept out of power

Kicked out of power? You're advocating the overthrow of the democratically elected government? Hmm, I'm sure there's a word for that... oh yeah, treason.

Well there are only 2 Presidents in the last 40 years that didn't get a higher Electoral win. And only 2 others in the 50 years before that. This is not the landslide mandate victory people are making it out to be.

FORWARD!!!!

Right off the cliff.

Barry's getting off to a good start. 'I'll talk raising taxes, but let's push off discussion of budget cuts till later'. Yep, we're gonna get a paltry $80B/yr from the evil rich, but continue to spend our way to impending ruin.

There's always hope that Barry will ask Romney how the private sector actually works since Barry's never spent any time actually IN the private sector.

So what you are saying is if Romney won by the same amount than he should embrace President Obama's policies because he didn't lose the election as badly as some other Presidents did?

Your anger to me is unwarranted because the people of this country have spoken and embrace his policies hence he was re-elected.

Gee, you must been in the fetal position during GWB's reign then?

If we listed freedoms lost under Bush vs freedoms lost under Obama his head would explode! Or he would just go into super-denial mode

Considering his bi-partisan experience in Mass. I can definitely say there is a lot more potential than where we are at now.
