We should start referring to Obama as basically a Republican, by the way. He is, by any normal standards.
I really hope I'm not misquoting, but I think it was well known liberal Cenk Uygur who said he hopes the republicans win the next election. Why? Because then the democrats would actually fight against the republicans. When the republicans were in power, the democrats were actually democrats. Now that the democrats are in power, they bitch out and cave under pressure for every single issue on the table. It's effectively a 1 party system right now.

I see several thing happening in the next few years:

2012 debt crisis is 10x worse then the 2011 debates.
US currency is downgraded to worthless
China cashes in its us bonds

Something, somewhere is going to have to give. Either the US is going to have to stop free trade, of we are going to have to replace the US flag with the chinese flag over capital hill.

Soon the US is going to be nothing more then a bunch of bums begging jobs from china and india.

No, American made products are being sold to Chinese.

The manufacturing plant is in NY. It hasn't move, in fact they just finished building it.

Thread title is misleading.

Pretty much what he said, and was fired from MSNBC.

last time i checked, the consumers have the REAL control. stop buying crap. if no one bought a new car for 3 months, think prices would come down? same thing with moving everything out of this country. separation of the haves and have nots. it will widen finally to the point where, joe idiot will have his cable tv bill be 350, his cell bill 250, his utilities at 550 and a six pack will be 10 bux, for a can that holds 10oz, not 12. wise the fuck up and protest with your fucking hard earned dollar. drop comcast, quit drinking brew, fuck the cell phone etc. monopolies are thriving and get larger. its all bullshit, turn a blind eye and stick your head in the sand...nothing will change until you all get off your fucking ass and actually care.

wheres the remote?

No US don't have to stop free trade, just stop free trade with those that don't play fair. (Hint: China) Most Favored Nation status for China when they control their currency? Why?

I don't blame the GE X-Ray CEO, when he plays his role as the CEO, he has to maximize his stock holder's return and make good investment decision. Because Chinese don't play fair with their currency, it's cheaper to manufacture there and sell in the US. And the US government does nothing to deter US companies from going to China. In addition, Chinese government is known for giving favorable terms on local tax, employee benefit (or the lack of) ...etc.

US government can no longer assume that they can do nothing and companies will just flock to the US and create job. They have to compete and attract companies. Some of the things they can do, like tax, less bureaucracy, protection of intellectual properties....etc. Some they cannot copy, like cut employee benefit, and that's when the US government need to consider raising tariff, even for US companies as long as the products are made abroad, to protect local workers and technologies/industries important to the country.

Sure tariff create net economic losses and but sometimes is worth it if you consider the total social benefit in terms of employment, keeping technologies in the country. Especially when your trade "partner" isn't really playing fair against you.
