That really does emphasise just how flawed his personality is. Just how insecure would you have to be to do that? [And it wasn't even a good fake - not much attention to detail shown there]

But I reckon he will make it through one term. I wouldn't even rule out his winning a second (though I really suspect he'll have had enough by then, having found its not as fun and ego-boosting as he thought it would be). He's a bizarrely-flawed personality, but I think he fits the political and economic condition of the US. It all depends on whether the Democrats get their act together (I am still of the opinion that Hillary was a poor choice of candidate - though the weird thing is she won the popular vote by the same percentage that Theresa May did).

Other interesting notes are that Clinton only performed about 2% worse than Obama did as an incumbent president and she roughly equaled Bush's margin for re-election. Very small differences in vote distribution that could have easily been affected by tons of small events would have won her the election and flipped the narrative completely.

It's also weird to say that Trump somehow fits the US political condition when he's the least popular president in history at this point of his administration and lost the popular vote by one of the largest margins ever for a winning candidate. If he fits the US so well why do so few people like him?

Well, I figure, in a 'normal' country, in 'normal' times, would someone like Trump get anywhere near being elected in the first place? I don't think these are normal times.

PS just stumbled on the story of Trump at the G7 summit last month (missed it at the time). Unwilling to walk 700 yards with the other world leaders and following behind May & Merkel et al in a _golf cart_. As weak a politician as May is, and as big a mess as the UK is in, at least she doesn't personally symbolise the state of the nation like that. It's like a living political cartoon.

The scary thing is he may not be a troll. He could really believe it. And may be reflective of the mindset of a good portion of the electorate who voted for Trump. As Churchill once noted: The greatest case against democracy is a 5 minute conversation with the average voter. Imagine if he were alive today and had a conversation with the average Trump voter. .
