You might want to have someone explain to you the meaning of the word "racist". To the extent that race (a human construct to identify sub-group populations with differences not rising to the level of sub-species) even applies to humans, "Muslim" is not a race. Someone who distrusts or even hates all Muslims, much less the worst aspects of the religion, is not necessarily a racist any more than a Muslim who feels that all non-Muslims should be killed, converted or enslaved.

A racist is one who believes that one particular race is inherently superior or inferior in and of itself. One who believes that African cultures are inherently inferior to some (or all) other cultures is not necessarily a racist. One who feels that someone of African ancestry is inherently inferior to those of other ancestry regardless of his/her culture or beliefs is by definition a racist, as is someone who feels that someone of African ancestry is inherently superior to those of other ancestry regardless of his/her culture or beliefs. If you wish to play in the big boy pool, learn your terms. The race card has lost almost all its effect because of people like you, which is a damn shame because sometimes it still needs to be played.

Bullshit. Sorry that you are tripping over the definitions of terms. Racism, extremism, supremacism - they are applied to a GROUP of people. Who gives a shit that racism, when taken literally, means the color of a persons skin? In context, you get exactly what I mean, and my use isn't wrong.

However, it doesn't really matter. Racism is just another form of ignorance and hatred. So whether I call him a racist or islamophobic, the shit he is spewing and the way he acts is still the same.

As for the bolded part of your first post, I'm not saying that either of those people would be more or less racist/extremist/whatever-the-fuck-term-will-make-you-understand. I'm saying that they are both ignorant fuck sticks that need to be educated on other cultures.

Leave the middle east? Why? The only reason we were there in the first place was to free a muslim country from Iraq. After that war we departed Saudi Arabia. We had a minimum footprint there till 9/11. Besides that we can go anywhere we need to if threatened, it's in our national interest or asked to come in, as we were in Gulf War I. I wonder how old you were during that war? I had been retired from the Marine Corps just over a year when that war started. Many Marines that participated in that war, I trained. They did a magnificent job. I am very proud of them.

We could increase troop counts in the bases surrounding the area. It would be more efficient in many ways, especially cost. This is simple accounting, establishing a base is a fixed cost, the amount of troops there is a variable cost. If we stop establishing new bases, shut down the ones we don't need, and shuffle troops around in more efficient places, we spend less.

Yes, I am all for spending cuts, to include the military.

We should bring a lot of our troops and equipment home.

I have been saying ever since the Bush Administration failed to support the attack on Tora Bora that we ought to be out of Afghanistan. We ought to be in Iran and Pakistan. Iran is the center of gravity of this current muislim war. Russia and China are the facilitators of Iran.
