I watched it randomly, and I caught one part that I'm surprised Biden didn't respond to. (To be fair, I don't think he was given a chance by the moderator to respond to Trump's comments.) It was when Trump was putting down Obama and Biden by stating how many open judicial positions there were to fill at the end of the Obama presidency. Trump kept trying to push about how he was setting records, and how it meant the Obama administration was weak. At the most, you could argue that it meant the Obama administration couldn't work with the Republican Senate, but to be realistic, I don't think there was anything Obama could've done to get them to work with him.
See my previous post regarding bad-faith actors. If they had filled the open judicial positions, they'd be 'stuffing the courts'. If they don't fill them, they're 'weak, unable to do their jobs'. If they explain thoughtfully what they're doing and why, they're 'washington insiders, performing calculated maneuvers'. It's all a firehose of bullshit.

EDIT: Oh, and if they point out the fact that Republicans shitheeled all attempts to fill the positions, 'whiners, #bothsides, can't make a deal'.

I am not sure why anyone could watch that and not see the reason for it going off the rails. It’s like we all know tRump acts like this and have accepted it as normal, but when the person he badgers fights back with a bit of the same medicine, we feel he overstepped. Really. I watched the CNN town hall stuff after the debate. One guy was upset with Biden about the clown comment. His stance was that the President deserves more respect. He is right about the past Presidents, but this guy has never acted presidential, so why does he deserve the respect earned by the first 44, since he has constantly blabbered about how he is better and has called them names like a playground bully. This kind of attitudes grates on my nerves. It’s like the instigator gets a pass, because reasons, but when the opponent goes somewhat in that areas, OMG! DID YOU HEAR THAT!!!!!!!!!!!! This kind of attitude is why we are here. It’s like when the bully gets punched and cries to the teacher. The teacher reprimands this action when they never said squat about the countless acts the bully did. I had that happen and I got in all kinds of trouble for pushing back on the teacher. Man did I get in trouble when I got home, as my patents never sided with me. Their stance was, “Well you had to do something to warrant that.” Then the punishment began, no way around it.

My bad .. I was sure as hell, cant search forums right now, timeouts, I take that back, sry bout that.

edit : nope, actually found this, I have you confused with someone else...

There was probably a post early in the nomination process where I questioned Biden’s ability to go the distance, but Ive never subscribed to the accusations of his being senile or in cognitive decline, especially since he clinched the nomination because its simply unproductive. Its all good.

edit: there was a time when i thought the “i’m joe biden and i’ve already forgotten this message” meme was funny, and i may have repeated it during the primary.

Why would Joe face Trump again? What is there to gain. He did all he needed to do last night. He showed he is not a late onset Alzheimer's victim the Trump world has made him out to be. Game over.

Because he said he'd be there. It's really just that simple.

His whole life consists of shoveling dirt into the hole he's endlessly battling to get out of, the hole his father threw him in to ruin his childhood.

When the GOP took the Senate in 2014 they shut down judicial confirmations almost entirely. *snuff* Fuck you, Libtards. Blame Obama.

Yep. I tried to look at it from common talking points, which is why I suggested that someone could argue that Obama should've tried to work with them. However, attempting to work with someone requires all actors working in good faith. We all know that the Republican Senate had no desire to work with Obama, which pretty much nixes those points. (They even had the recording of that one Republican senator come out recently with him stating that they would never let Obama fill a vacancy.)

The entire thing is a bit frustrating to me, because it just illuminates how dysfunctional our entire system has become. Albeit, to be fair, it has always had issues, but the hostility and obsession over "winning" hasn't seemed so brazen to me as it is right now. How do we even begin to fix this? Even if Biden wins this year, unless the Democrats keep the House and take the Senate, we'll just go back to the last two years of the Obama administration where the President couldn't accomplish much due to Congressional interference.

Another frustrating aspect is that I tend to deal with friends that like to act centrist/impartial, but they tend to show their true colors when presenting outlandish remarks/evidence for their reasoning. An example would be how they suggest that Biden has dementia, or how given Biden's age, Harris will end up being the President. That usually devolves into stuff like "taking our guns" and other slippery-slope arguments that just don't make a ton of sense. The hard part for me is that they often bring up some random thing that I've never heard of, and I prefer not arguing about something that I don't know about, so I normally just have to concede with a remark like "I haven't heard about that." That sometimes leads to a "that's because the mainstream media is suppressing it!" I had that remark come up in regard to Middle East peace talks.

Trump has turned what used to be at least a somewhat useful means for both candidates to explain their goals and policies into a spectacle to turn the American people against their system of government. Trump has no goals other than re-election and no policy other than pandering to those who voted him in. Trump failed in almost all manners as a US president and didn’t bother to defend or bring up any policies. Instead he shouted, interrupted, screamed, insulted Wallace, insulted Biden, insulted Warren, lied about his taxes, lied about his handling of covid, lied about the economy, refused to condemn racism, condemned racial training, insulted Biden’s family, and lied about each and every topic brought up to him. All of which he did continuously and repeatedly. That was it. He presented no coherent policy.

I suggest that if he goes off the rails in the next debates we just run his microphone feed through a filter than makes him sound like Donald Duck’s speech-impaired cousin.

Honestly though ... Trump will be the winner for a lot of people because, for them, there are no losing conditions to his performance, while Biden has no winning conditions. Some people will never judge Trump, not by any rule, nor any standard. With no standards, there is no losing.

Did anyone note the time when old Briney Balls finally succumbed to reality and passed out/checked into detox?

Short of Trump himself, I've seen few so bespoken of untruths.

I hope he recovers.

Not sure he did, but he has my thoughts and prayers. He reminds me of an altercation I had while bouncing at a club many, many years ago. We had this guy who tried all night to pick a fight with me. I refused. He ultimately got into with another patron. While escorting him out he sucker punched me and kicked me a number of times. Needless to say, it did not end well for him. While leaving the parking lot, he rolled down his window and said, “I’ve been beat up worse than this before!” Not sure most would call that winning, but in some simple minds, it’s all they got. That same demented behavior was in full display in this thread by the NutsRSalty.

You get a little curious about the noise, but then you see the usual thread destroyer players smothering the thread, and you just roll your shoulders and move on.
I was wondering at the start of this thread (and so happy about it!!!) that the conservative trolls were absent. I hoped they'd stay away, it was so much fun then. Later the trolls came down from their trees or out of their caves or wherever they hibernate and the infections festered until the thread was just a bleeding mess of troll whatevers (I don't see that because I had them already, or just added to me ignore list... anyone who wants my ignore list, just PM me). I didn't unignore anything.

Not obliged, but some were relevant questions that a good moderator would ask and he should be prepared to answer.
Are you joking? Liberals can only answer questions with truth, truth conservatives have flippant ready made gut reaction alternet reality answers to all pre programmed into their brainwashed stooge supporters. In order to for a liberal to answer a guest ion a a low level thinking conservative can understand, the listeners need many many years of de-programming and re-education in critical thinking. No liberal can answer questions to in a room full of savages and fools. Just look at how you respond when I tell you you’re one of them.

How are you going to think when all you feel is offense? How many conservatives are going to be willing to see they incapable of understanding the answers to the questions they already wrongly assume they have themselves answered.

Save yourself the trouble and go tie yourself inside a paper bag and enjoy, instead, trying to punch your way out.

So there is your answer. See what good it did for you? Nada, Pal, but it’s not your fault. And when you know that you won’t need to ask.

I only made it 12 minutes before I turned the volume down, popped my faux AirPods in and fired up Green Day (you know the song) and started nightly chores.
No, what's the song? Spill the beans...

Tough call. Neither of them have what I would like to see in a president. So It comes down to deciding which part of the turd tastes the best. All said and done, I find Joe less annoying, so he gets the nod.
Oh God, take the gauze away from your eyes/ears. Or get cataract surgery, don't know what your problem is, but Biden's 1000x better than Trump.
