I used the computer throughout the day for multiple hours at a time and reboots inbetween sessions.
It finally died again after burning 3 CDs.
The video cut out.
The power and HD activity lights on the front of the computer were still on.
The PSU fan and fan LEDs were still on.
The LEDs on my USB keyboard and my USB Optical Mouse were out.
Several resettings got me no further.
I turned the switch on the PSU off, the surge suppressor off and unplugged the computer.
I'll try to fire it up today with only the master HD.
I'll try to add everything except the latest WD 120GB HD that I added and see if it lasts a day or more.
There is no cap leakage or bursts.
There are no burns or evidence of electrolyte leakage on the motherboard.
Could my situation be casused by not enough power reaching the system? It never happened before. I think I'm on the same circuit as some people's ACs. I wonder if everyone's air-conditioners in the house are straining the system. I heard the fuse box buzz a few nights ago. It's a sign of a near miss on a blown fuse when someone's AC kicked in. If it blows, you just reset it.
When my sys died last NIGHT, everyone's AC was running. The first time it died, I think everyone was home on their days off. If so, everyone's AC was on. This never happened in summers gone by. I wonder if the first PSU I tossed in the trash was actually still funtional. I'm betting the first of the two I bought from this thread is still good and have not yet sent it back to Directron.
Maybe the folks at Asus or Super Flower can shed some light on this.
